and you had kevin mccarthy then pull everyone out. she is right to suggest that the two members that she did are sort of not serious people. if you think about what jim jordan was saying today, i think he made an argument for himself not being on the committee today because he basically is suggesting that somehow nancy pelosi is to blame for what happened on january 6th. you know, what did she know and when did she know it on january 6th? and you have a committee of very serious people, liz cheney is one of those people. adam schiff is one of those people as well. and you have bennie thompson who's going to lead this committee. so, listen, i think no matter what republicans were going to say this was all partisan, they blocked the nonpartisan sort of bipartisan committee because they wanted this opportunity to mudline nancy pelosi, to undermine this investigation. but i think you can still get a serious and credible investigation with the folks who are on this committee. >> just to add, i think nia hit the nail on the head. if you go

but, look, i think leader mccarthy -- minority leader mccarthy was trying to balance a few different incoming opinions that were coming his way. some people were advising he should pick a pack of killers, as they phrased it, people who would go out there and use this committee to defend the president and make this a circuit. try to make it as partisan as possible, insert as many distractions as possible. and jordan and banks were capable of doing just that. they are comfortable with the media attention. they live on fox news. jim jordan in particular has a knack for viral moments. and then i think there were other people advising mccarthy to take this a little more seriously. that's why we ultimately saw the appointment of people like rodney davis and ultimately pelosi did not have a tolerance and her members didn't have a tolerance for having people like jim jordan and jim banks who, according to bennie thompson as he told us this morning, the red line for democrats was not that they voted against certifying president-elect biden's win but they don't have a reputation for, as he sai

today the house speaker vetoed two of the five republican members that minority leader kevin mccarthy chose for the house select 1/6 committee. congressman jim banks of indiana, jim jordan of ohio. they are among some of trump's most vocal acolytes and loyal supplicants. in fact, they both voted against counting electoral votes for joe biden. banks released a statement monday somehow blaming the biden administration for the response to the riot even though it took place as you'll recall when trump was president. that was the point of the riot. and jim jordan has called the investigation nothing but a third impeachment of the former president. pelosi explained her unusual move in a statement that cited, quote, respect for the integrity of the investigation with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these members. that triggered this from republican leader mccarthy who warned, quote, unless speaker pelosi reverses course and seats all five republican nominees republicans will not be party to their sham process and will instead pursue our
