leader majority mcconnell -- mitch mcconnell says he looks forward to working with president-elect donald trump. this is a half hour. senator mcconnell: hope you are having as good a day as i am. before we get started, just one parochial matter. kentucky had the unfortunate distinction until yesterday of being the only state in the south with a democratic legislative body. that changed dramatically yesterday as the republicans in the bluegrass state took the statehouse, going from 47 up to 64. it had been almost as long as it had been since the cubs won the world series, 95 years of continuous democratic control. that only added a little more happiness to my evening. to more current and national matters, senator schumer called yesterday and offered his cooperation. i said that is certainly what i intended to do. we talked again today. that is still the view of both of us, that we want to work together to see what we can accomplish for the american people, not only in a lame duck, but beginning next year. i have had a chance to talk to the president and vice president. to president-elect t

mcconnell: i don't think so. mcconnell, we have at bipartisan issue -- criminal justice reform is something that has supports on both sides of the aisle. is that something you look at in the new congress? donald trump has not talked about that much. it has not made it into legislation. sen. mcconnell: in terms of scheduling the senate, we have serious divisions among republicans. i would not rule it out. i do not want to speak for the speaker. he said something about whether or not they might tackle it. it might be a good question to ask him. if they send a bill over to us, we will take a good look at it. but it is a pretty spirited debate within our conference. not only on a philosophical basis. i have some concerns with members who are in favor of it and opposed to it. so it did not look to me like a , good agenda item for us at this point, but i would not want to rule it out for next congress. >> senator mcconnell back to the , supreme court issue. how much advising and consenting will you be doing? sen. mccon

warren: i think there is no mandate out there for mitch mcconnell and paul ryan. i think there is no mandate right now to cut regulations and say, let's just turn a bunch of wall street banks lose and see what they will do. what could go wrong, right? let's not remember what happened in 2008 and the run-up to that. i think the appetite for that among the american people is zero. i think that is exactly what we have demonstrated in this election. gerald: if mitch mcconnell were here, he would say that they won control of the senate and house. sen. warren: i say to mitch mcconnell that hillary clinton got more votes than donald trump did, we took seats and the senate, and we took seats in the house. he has fewer senators on the republican side that he had before the selection, and paul ryan has pure house numbers on the republican side that he did before this election. what i'm saying is that whether people were voting for hillary clinton or whether they were voting for donald trump, they weren't voting for mitch mcconnell and paul ryan's deregulatory mix of let gia

senator mcconnell h talked about this in his book. that for him, it was a strategy from the beginning to deny this president everything. listen, i would like to, and i think right now, this is a conversation that perhaps democrats should be having in two months, not two days after an election. you go through the five stages and you kind of pick yourself back up and think rationally again. there are a lot of people right now that as it turns to anger, we say give this president nothing. you give the people what they wanted. , you know, control of both houses to the republicans and see what happens and reap the rewards. that ifnecessarily know that is in congressional democrat's dna that they believe in government. i'm not saying that republicans don't. they believe in government and wanting to be a part of the discussion, so i for see them presidentwork with trump, and with vice president pence, which you have not really talked about. it is going to be interesting to see who is really calling some of these shots here with congress, if

he and mcconnell had difference and mcconnell refused to talk about mr. trump when he was a candidate but was prepared to support him. mr. mcconnell in kentucky while he agrees that the border has to be secured, he suggested that trump's version of the wall is an overreach and not a good idea to overreach in the early days of the administration. and paul ryan, part of the republican national committee, excuse me, will be with paul ryan and that is a critical meeting. paul ryan and donald trump is at odds and there is a behind the sceneses feud that got nasty and some supporters thought paul ryan might be defeated as house speaker. paul ryan disagreed with trump on nato and foreign policy and president-elect comments were racist and there is a lot of ill will there and the trump camp pain kept an enemy's list. that will be patched up. and we had that from the president and mr. obama and hopefully will get it to you. the president called it an excellent meeting. >> we talked about some of the organizational issues in the white house and talked about foreign
