also joining the conversation all morning long is dagen mcdowell and mark tepper.o see everybody this morning. welcome. mark, your thoughts on markets as we head into this federal reserve change in terms of going from easing to tightening. nasdaq now in correction territory. what do you want to do here? >> well, i think the fed wanted an easier glide path to relinquishing the loose monetary policy and calming markets and that clearly hasn't happened. the 10 year's up 40 basis points in 30 days. that's a 30% rise in interest rates. if that happens again in the next 30 days, the 10 year's at 2.4% so that gives you an idea of the swift magnitude that we've had with this rise. and that's what's shaken markets. they need to stay on course of course because this inflation genie has gotten out of the bottle. the hope is that rates don't go up every day. if rates calm and slowly move into an anti-inflationary level that we can live with, stocks can have a decent year. it's all about what interest rates do, how the fed approaches this and how investors react to what looks l

let me bring dagen mcdowell in.ause dagen, we've been trying to navigate around all these fed meetings. put that graphic up once again in terms of fed meetings coming up. we have a fed meeting next week. most of the people we've spoken with are not expecting the rate hikes to start until march. what's your take on this, dagen, in terms of what we see in the upcoming january meeting versus the march meeting, march 15th. dagen: it's going to be later in the year, obviously, i think before they start raising short-term interest rates but i can say with almost certainty that the federal reserve will screw this up and it will trigger a recession, potentially, where short-term and jon hilsenrath talked about it yesterday where short-term interest rates end up higher than longer term interest rates as the fed will ignore what the market's trying to tell it. we're going into this removal of accommodation to sound like the nerd that i am with a near $9 trillion balance sheet. before the financial crisis in 2007 that balance
