a gas station at came into mckee is where police say a man punched a 60 year-old and took his as you become a yukon. an officer happened to be pulling into the parking lot at the same time, he saw it happen and gave chase. a half an hour later the suspect was still on mckee road, approached 680 and struck a police cruiser, seriously injuring the officer. the chase then continued on north capitol ave. police say the man rammed to more squad cars. the suspect made its way to alexander and an officer used his car to protect a family that was crossing the street at the time. the suspect then came back around 680 and ultimately was cornered by police at the intersection of mccrery. the taser him and took him into custody. reggie kumar has more on the suspect. you can still see evidence on the pavement where all of this unfolded. police cars crashed into the suv, they say gonzales' refused to get out of the suv. that is why one san jose police officer: tased entered opens driver's side window. investigators have not released details. gonzales was booked at the santa clara county jail and f

one helped the victim, the other chasing down the stolen suv but was rammed by the suspect car at mckee and 680. >> the first officer struck by the suspect was trapped in his car and had to be cut out by the fire department. >> reporter: the suspect then rammed three more patrol cars in a residential neighborhood. >> one of our officers was injured trying to shield pedestrians in the crosswalk at alexander and alum rock. as this was going down, he sees the pursuit and a mother and children in a crosswalk. he puts his car in front of them. the suspect rammed the police car. this guy was ridiculous. >> reporter: police say it was only lucky that no one was killed or more seriously injured. the officer who had to be cut out of the vehicle was the most seriously considered, but not life-threatening injuries. three other officers were also injured. they were taken to the hospital and checked out. the suspect in addition was also taken to the hospital, dana, as per the policy when someone gets tased in san jose, they have to go to the hospital to be checked out before they can be book into ja

but afterargjackin the grey suv from the elderly man he fled and smashed directly into an officer at mckee road on 680. >> the officer at that point did not realize that was the vehicle that had been carjacked moments earlier. without provocation, this individual crashed directly into the patrol car where the officer was seated. that officer was actually trapped in his car because of the impact. >> when the suspect tried to elude police in a residential neighborhood nearby. officer garcia says another officer saw potential for even greater disaster. >> one of the officers that spotted him realized there was a woman with her children in harm's way on the street, that this individual was fleeing on. the officer actually stopped and positioned his car in front of that woman with her children to protect her. >> reporter: the woman and children were unharmed but the officer wasn't so lucky and he wasn't ready to give up yet. at the bank, it looked like a movie happening before her eyes. >> the cops were chasing this car they cut him off, the car spin twice, two cops go in front of him to block

it all started at a gas station in san jose at the intersection of king and mckee that is where theythe suspect punched a 68 year old man and then took his car. there happen to be a police officer pulling in at the time, he saw the whole thing and that is when the police chase started. about a half hour later farther up the road, we had a suspect rammed a patrol car and that is the officer that was seriously injured. the chase continued to the other side of 680 near north capitol ave. police said the suspect ramped to more squad car and then kept going. it was in a few blocks away that a police officer actually used his patrol car to protect a family that was crossing the street. the suspect tried to acquire the patrol car and then turned around and headed back across 680 and it was here at the intersection that the suspect was cornered, taser, and then taken into custody. we will talk more about this story throughout the day and give you more details. we will take a quick break and be back with more headlines in just a minute. here is a live look from our roof camera looking back at

lice say the shooting happened last night near north capitol avenue and mckee road. police say the victim had no known gang thies but are investigating the possibility that the shooting was gang-related. the city had a total of 41 homicides last year. >>> san francisco police arresting two men early this morning for allegedly firing weapons from the roof of an apartment building. s.w.a.t. teams called in and surrounded the building around midnight. roughly two hours later, police say the two men came down the fire escape to the street and were taken into custody. officers say it's unlikely the alleged gunmen were actually targeting anyone, just shooting the gun randomly into the air. >>> a man was arrested tat oakland airport today after a knife was found in his carry-on bag. tsa officers say police arrested the 38-year-old man from chicago after security officers found a four-inch knife in his carry-on back that was headed to las vegas. the man told agents he forgot the night was in his bag. this is two days after tim donnelly was cited at ontario international airp
