for the vision plan of mclaren park was published and adopted by the commission back in 2018. the plan called for considering ways to improve safety and connectivity in the park among many things. regarding roadways it also caused ""exploring roadway treatments such as closing a portion of shelly drive to calm the road and open up the closed segment to non vehicular uses similar to what is being proposed right now. in 2020 as we all are familiar the pandemic came to us, and mayor breed announced that shelly drive would be restricted from vehicular use just at the same time jfk drive was restricted. 1 mile was closed to vehicular access effectively creating that promenade. initially it included the section from cambridge to the upper reservior parking lot however in the map it was short epidemiced in 2021 due to the openings of the picnic -- reopening of group picnic and the new playground and providing reestablishing access to that parking lot at the top of the hill near the reservoir tower. although the promenade was temporary we were ensured and let the public know that rec a
