senator martha mcsally's is probably at the top of that list. he was very clear he's not necessarily excited about what she presented as her vision. mcsally has had a hard time in the last couple of months trying to tap dance about how she feels about the president, often trying to not answer the question whether she's proud of his record. yesterday she said that, but it may not give her much help. florida is a place the president has spent the most time, the most stops in the last a couple of weeks since returning to the trail. he'll be back here likely at least twice before election day. it's his adopted home state, a critical place he won in 2016, and really you see the strategy unfolding here, as playing defense. in florida, in north carolina, and in pennsylvania, those will be the states he's most focused on. today we'll see something, andrea, away haven't seen in a year and a half, that's first lady melania trump joining her husband at this rally behind me. thousands expected here. she hasn't been at a rally since the last election. >> we

mark mcsally is up by seven points. are they kind of existing on parallel tracks or do they diverge at least in some places? >> you pointed out arizona, and i think that's one of the places where the democratic candidate for senate is probably going to do better, maybe much better than joe biden is, even if biden carries arizona, which he's currently favored narrowly to do. but the democratic candidate mark kelly is doing extremely well against martha mcsally, and i think he's very likely to win. but that's rare. i got to tell you, in the vast majority of cases, just as we saw in 2016, these races are going to operate, as you said, on parallel tracks. and by and large, the vast majority of voters now are so polarized and so partisan that they're going to vote for a particular party for the white house and go right down the ballot and vote for the same party all the way to the courthouse. that will be true for both parties. it will keep the results in line with one another for the most part. >> jessica, what would you sa

martha mcsally refusing to say whether that's proud of her support from donald trump.rting to get a sense that republicans are starting to get nervous and distance themselves from the president? >> this has been the fundamental challenge for republicans running in these contested statewide races. on one hand you have to ensure the trump base, those who support the president, they turn out to support you. you're not going to win a campaign if you're joannie ernst in iowa, or martha mcsally in arizona, you need that base to show up. the more closely you tie yourself to the president the more challenging it's become to gain the support of undecided voters, swing voters, some of the voters you interviewed in arizona who have gone between the parties. it's more challenging for them. you have to make a decision. do you continue to tether strongly to the president or do you not? in some districts you're seeing people do that. you're seeing some tying themselves very closely to the president. in other places, mcsally, joannie ernst, you have those who are running good campaign

mark kelly outraising appointed incumbent republican senator there martha mcsally by quite a bit. but recent polls in arizona just show an increasingly yawning gap there were martha mcsally, even though she's the incumbent, looking like she's going to lose that seat to democrat mark kelly in arizona. even in closer races or races where the republican incumbent still has a polling advantage, we are seeing really huge fund-raising numbers for the democratic challengers to republican senators. right now in north carolina, democrat cal cunningham is running narrowly ahead of incumbent republican senator thom tillis. republican senator lindsey graham has been publicly hysterical over how much his democratic opponent jaime harrison has outraised him in terms of fund-raising. harrison is running a very good point in a red state. that polling has pinged back and forth between a graham lead and a few different polls that have shown harrison and graham in a tie. up in maine, where the democratic party is now making signs that say "trump/ collins" -- the democratic party is making those sign
