terry mcsweeney was at city hall.terry it got heated for several hours tonight. >> reporter: yeah, it went on for about four hours tonight, one of the speakers demanding the resignation of the chief. he showed no sign he was interested in that, he wanted to talk about the situations police find themselves in. city hall seemed as though it could use some deescalating. take a look. more than 100 people turned out and at times they shut down the meeting, voicing their opposition to police tactics. some spoke of racism and trouble towards the community by san francisco pd. many demanded action. >> do something, chief, tell us what it is. i mean, what can anybody in this room face that could change it? my friends tonight, this should be for this commission and this entire city. not a time to debate. but a time to decide. >> reporter: the video for question shows mario woods surrounded by san francisco pd. he did a have knife, but others said there was another way to deescalate it. others were trying to come up with a natio

good evening, i'm terry mcsweeney. the body was found at the fraternity house. christie smith live in front of the frat house with more, christie? >> reporter: well, terry, berkeley police have not released a lot in the way of details but they say it was early this morning when they were dispatched on an unresponsive male. the berkeley police are not releasing much in the way of details but do say the victim is male in his early 20s and pronounced dead at the scene. we did knock at the door at the fraternity house but nobody answered. i did speak briefly with a student visiting here who said he was a member of the chapter there in southern california and was here to offer his condolences. i also reached out to the national organization in north carolina. they say they were notified about the situation earlier today and they have asked their students to cooperate with the local authorities who are leading this investigation, so of course, still many, many questions but that is away we have for now. reporting live in berkeley, christie smith, nbc bay area news. >>

good evening, everyone, i'm terry mcsweeney. justly before the holidays, a man in his 20s found dead, the death called suspicious. the body was found at a fraternity house on channing way this morning. christie smith is live at the berkeley police station with more. christie? >> reporter: terry, i just got an update from berkeley police. they say witnesses are cooperating but there are still many questions with this case. we do know now that the young man who passed away was 22 years old. berkeley police say before 7:30 this morning they started receiving 911 calls from inside the fraternity house, calls about an unresponsive male. berkeley police and fire did respond and despite their best efforts, they were unable to revive him. he was pronounced dead at the scene. they called in homicide investigators just to make sure, they say, they're being thorough. >> we're investigating a suspicious death because we're not sure of the complete circumstan
