i'm carrie mcsweeney. >> i'm vickie been. rain is falling across the bay area, and we are tracking cold temperatures as well. take a look at this video from berkeley. it was taken just a few hours ago, and rain is here to stay. sfoor now in the 50s. >> that's because ahead of that cold front now we're seeing the first round of showers kind of pushing through monterey. a lot of that now trekking out to the east and the south. you can see just behind that off in the pacific, we still have plenty of moisture, and that's where we're expecting to see a couple of those showers. we're also seeing some snow falling in the seara. dangerous commute out there through tomorrow morning. that winter weather advisory is expected to remain in place from tomorrow. at first rain totals so far as i had mentioned before, it was not a big rain maker. mount -- the heaviest just over a half an inch of rainfall. for downtown san francisco almost a quarter of an inch. i'll have more details on tomorrow's rain coming up in just a bit. back to you. so

. >> i'm terry mcsweeney. that district burning in a -- more than 100 firefighters there. that i have been there for the last hour. >> nbc -- it's near 8th avenue right now. sergio what can you tell us? >> reporter: that fire fight is still happening as we speak. you can see right there, the firefighters are continually trying to pick apart that wall and the roof. what they're doing is venting a lot of the -- that is filled within that building so they can try to keep it from spreading to any of the nearby buildings. this is a massive response. one of reasons why is because they want to make sure they can contain it in this building. there are a total of three buildings that have been evacuated at this point. the main building that you saw there on fire and the two right next to it. you can now see the smoke as they continue to come out of that building. on the drive here, we could smell the smoke several blocks away. this fire has been throwing out a lot of smoke throughout this entire neighborhood for probably about the last hour or so. let's go ahead and go to video rig

i'm terry mcsweeney, washed out roads and flooded buildings. a mess some parts of the north bay. people cleaning up after the rain. sergio quintana is live, checking out the damage. >> reporter: there are some detour signs and other warning signs adotted along roads to communities. owners of some homes and businesses still trying to recover from the rain. at nursery, flooded waters haven't receded. said it will take a day or so to clear it out. i hear a pump. >> it's gas pump. creek is low enough, i can pump water out of here into the creek. >> reporter: pine gulf creek jumped its banks. water hasn't been this high in years. pictures of flooding at home a couple doors down from the nursery. is it damaged at all? >> not the house proper. garage is history. >> reporter: you can see the water line on the garage. says some of her pottery equipment was damaged but can be salvaged. all along state road 1, there are warning signs and water. cal trans crews work to clear debris swept in by the runoff. this video by golden gate national recreational area is not waterfall but runoff. >> er
