news4's meagan fitzgerald will be covering that event. she's also read through this e lawsuit and meagan, what are you hearing now? >> reporter: i can tell you that lawsuit alleges both parents and teachers expressed concern over what they called 22-year-old deonte carraway's predatory behavior toward children. they expressed this concern to school principle michelle williams and it says she didn't do anything about it citing a lack of proof. now, it also says that last week the youngest victims in this case, the uncle went to the school principal after he found obscene images on the child's cell phone, showed school principal michelle williams. she told him according to the lawsuit, that they need to have a meeting the next day but before that meeting could happen, the lawsuit says that the uncle called police. this investigation started. carraway got arrested, and as of today we are learning that school principal michelle williams is on paid administrative leave. it's been a challenging week to say the least for many parents and students

meagan fitzgerald reports what the club's owner is doing to help with the investigation. >> reporter: this all happened just before midnight. we're told barcode was packed with people when a fight broke out. hours later, a maryland mother found out her son was dead. >> my son was a good boy, respectful to everybody. >> reporter: chand palisade she raised all of her children to be kind and loving but said 29-year-old robinson was special. >> when he turn 18, i said looking for some place to need. no, stay with mommy. >> reporter: he was an electrician and was getting ready to fly to california to celebrate his 30th birthday. but before he left his mother said he and his friends went to barcode on sunday night. just before midnight police say a fight broke out inside and two people were stand. chanda says hours later she found out robinson had died. >> i was shocked. i could not do anything, not even talk. not even cry. >> reporter: they have temporarily closed the club down for four days while they investigate. a notice on the door says a bloody knife and glass were found scattered ins

we begin with meagan fitzgerald. meagan, what have you learned today? >> reporter: well, a school board committee meeting was set to start at 6:00 p.m. tonight where members were to discuss policy as it relates to background checks, volunteers, and sexual abuse districtwide, but that meeting has been canceled. we're told members wanted to join in the meeting at the judge sylvania woods elementary school where parents will be briefed by law enforcement officials as well as school officials. so at this pointis for next week, but we had an opportunity earlier today to speak with a pastor of the suspect who says looking back, he sees things he considers red flags. so many questions emerging after former teacher's aide and volunteer was charged with sexually abused students during school hours. the community is outraged. >> it breaks our hearts in prince george's county. as a parent of three, i'm particularly taking this hard, as i'm sure most parents are out there. >> reporter: a lawsuit filed by the family of a 9-year-old victim saying the school principal

meagan fitzgerald joins us live with details. meagan? >> doreen, police say a child was victimized inside a prince george's county church. that brings the total number of here at judge sylvania woods almost tri scho elementary school, to five. nearly every day this week the number of victim police say were abused by former teacher's aide deonte carraway continues to rise. >> through the course of the investigation our detectives have now uncovered that deonte carraway has victimized a child at the church. additionally, we now know there are 14 confirmed victims in this case. >> reporter: tim maloney represents five victims. he says the number of lawsuits against the school board and principal, michelle williams, will continue to increase as well. he filed the latest suit on thursday. >> we expect a couple more lawsuits to be filed on monday. there's a class action pending, and we think that thereas more victims come, more lawsuits will be filed. >> reporter: many of the children were sexually abused at the school while class was in sessi

. >> meagan fitzgerald. thank you. >>> a developing story. we have learned the identities of the two sheriff's deputies killed in harford county. and there's new information about the gunman's possible motive. this is the first time we've seen pictures of the two deputies. senior deputy patrick dailey was a 30-year veteran of the horford county sheriff's department and senior deputy mark logsdon had spent 16 years on the force. dailey went into the panera bread in abingdon to investigate reports there was a wanted person inside. police say david evans pull out a gun and without warning shot dailey in the head. evans left the restaurant and then killed logsdon in a shootout with other deputies. >> it's our belief that because he knew there was a warrant out for his arrest and what the ultimate outcome of that encounter was going to be, would have been his arrest, that is why he took the action against the police officer. we don't believe he laid in wait to ambush, but, you know, certainly the officer was targeted from the extent that he didn't

news4's meagan fitzgerald reports now on testimony from one of the victims before the judge handed down a decision. >> reporter: in many ways, what happened inside a montgomery county courtroom was closure for two men brutally attacked at the rockville metrobus stop by 39-year-old reginald cooper, who learned today he will likely spend the rest of his life in jail. >> 60 years in prison. >> reporter: it was around 6:00 a.m. on december 15th, 2014. this video shows cooper walking towards the rockville metro stop. moments later police say he randomly stabbed two victims. >> in the liver. he was rushed to a suburban hospital after this attack where his life was saved and he stabbed the other young man in the back. both had life-threatening injuries. >> reporter: several witnesses boarding the bus that morning saw the attack happen. one of the victims was francisco ramos. he was in court and spoke to the judge moments before cooper was sentenced. with the help of a translator, he said, quote, my life is not the same anymore. everything has changed. no other person should have to go through

their car collided with another vehicle on river road and meagan fitzgerald has been talking to people who knew him. >> reporter: there's no question about it. things are different here at walt whitman high school. >> he was a part of the debate team. he was really smart. >> tommy is the kind of kid who is larger than life and he's always doing something crazy. dough was just 17 years old. a focused senior with big dreams. gee got into georgia tech. he was really excited to go there next year. >> reporter: but montgomery county police say on saturday evening tommy, his sister helena, and their two parents were driving down river road near pyle when a vehicle collided into them. tommy and his parents died. his sister, who is a sophomore at whitman, was left fighting r for her life. >> it's going to be hard for everyone just because there's never going to be another tommy. >> reporter: but today tommy's spirit was remembered. >> apparently he liked to wear some crazy socks and that's just something we're going to do for him. >> reporter: a spirit that touched many students and faculty me

meagan fitzgerald is in northwest with the story of someone who was robbed twice. >> reporter: and, you know, wendy a lot of these crimes have happened really recently. it was just tuesday. so just a couple days ago when police say a group of 16 held a man at gunpoint along this stretch of kansas avenue in petworth and they demanded his money. then they went a block away and did the same thing. four of those suspects are in custody and chief lanier says many of these arrests are very significant because many of these suspects are habitual offenders. 54-year-old michael williams was arrested this morning. in less than a month he robbed six businesses. one of them was this cvs in northeast. cameras inside were rolling when police say he entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. less than three weeks later, he was back. a store employee who didn't want us to reveal his identity says the same employee was targeted both times. >> she just felt that her safety was compromised. the employees work hard for their money are afraid at any time they can be robbed or harassed. >> reporter

news4's meagan fitzgerald live with new reaction from metro tonight. meagan? >> reporter: metro police were out here for several hours investigating the incident which happened just behind us here right at that metro stop on the sidewalk inxd the middle of a by commute. now metro officials are calling it another brazen attack by teenagers. but it's something they say they're committed to stopping. >> during the working hours, mostly see working people. >> reporter: but around 3:00 on monday, investigators say a 61-year-old woman was police say a group of teens were fighting for her purse until the bus driver jumped in. >> the bus operator came off the bus and attempted to intervene. actually assisted the victim by getting the juveniles off of her. >> reporter: this is the spokesman for metro. he says the teens took off into the metro station with the woman's purse and the bus driver chased after them until police arrived. that's when all three of the teenagers were handcuff and escorted into the back of a police car there is a growing concern around some of th

meagan fitzgerald is here with new details. what are you hearing today? >> reporter: well, chris, at this point the total number of victims are now at 14, and investigators tell us they're just learning of a new location where this allegedly happened. they tell us it was inside of a church. at this point they're not telling usac in prince george's county because the pastor has not yet been notified. ever since 22-year-old deonte carraway was arrested, the number of victims and locations of abuse continues to rise. we're now learning young children were harmed at a local church. judge sylvania woods elementary school, the glenarden municipal center, aquatic center and inside private homes. so far two lawsuits have been filed against the prince george's county school board. deonte carraway and school principal michelle williams who is on administrative leave. investigators say they're carefully releasing information so more potential victims will come forward. >> perhaps the name afflalocation might spark someone's memory, a guard yn ia a parent who dropped

meagan fitzgerald is in northwest to tell us how police were able to close nearly two dozen robbery cases. >> reporter: you know, they tell us it's a combination of things. it's good detective work mixed with community involvement, and with 13 arrests in the last week, including three suspects who robbed a guy in his petworth neighborhood, it's a combination that proves to be effective. >> chief, there -- >> reporter: metropolitan police chief cathy lanier said 13 brazen robbery suspects are off the streets. >> what is significant about these closures is kind of what we've been saying all along. we have a small number of people that commit an awful lot of crime. >> reporter: police say one of those suspects is 54-year-old michael williams who robbed six businesses in less than a month. one of them was have cvs in northeast. cameras were rolling when police say he entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. weeks later he was back again robbing the same employee. we spoke with the woman's co-worker who didn't want to be on camera. >> he walked up and demanded money from her. she j

megan fitzgerald just arrived on the scene. meagan? >> we're told that the call came in at 2:30 this afternoon for an unresponsive person inside this apartment building behind me in falls church on seminary road. now fairfax county police responded to the 23rd floor, that's when they say they found a man who had died of an apparent gunshot wound. this still an active investigation, police are currently on scene. what they're telling us at this point they don't have a suspect and they can't definitively say there's not a threat to the public. so they're going door to door, speaking to people asking them heard anything, saw something. still a lot of unanswered questions at this point in terms of who the man was and what the situation, what led to the situation. that's all information that they're working on determining. they're asking who the public who might have any information about this incident to contact the fairfax county police department right away. again this is a very active and ongoing investigation. as we learn more informat
