. >>> welcome back to fast money stocks, soaring on wall street after mederna shares jumping 20% to touch fresh all time highs. the company is getting ready to sell more shares >> we're talking about essentially eight patients worth of data that are moving the market to this extent. it's really amazing to see the vaccine enrolled 45 participants, were focusing on those eight, it was they that showed the neutralizing antibodies are what you need in order to fight off a virus also it was generally well tolerated. and now the company is saying phase three is planned for july. already questions are being lobbed to the ceo how they're going to price this potential vaccine. we talked to the ceo about that on squawk box this morning >> we need to stop thinking about pritsing we know it's a pandemic, we know people are waiting for the product. we have to figure out what's the right place. they needs to be able to fund, they are doing a stock offering of 1 and a quarter billion dollars in shares. they're going to use the proceeds to mainly fund the manufacturing and distribution if it's successful

vaccine trials, mederna's has reached phaseo phase three soon. do you think we could see a real vaccine that works by the end of this year? >> i'm cautiously optimistic. that's the phrase i use. if we were to see a vaccine come to fruition at the end of the year, it will break any record mi tmaet.ihink t was years. s. mer have te threason ts so much pcetsf a so much collaboration. mederna had its first trial in march in seattle. they just finished phase two -- i'm sorry. they just got approved to start phase two, looking at safety efficacy, how does it generate an immune response and dose. they're optimistic they'll move to phase three in the summer. what's important for the public to understand is assuming everything goes perfectly right. st t e want that to happen. another company may get there first or we may not see one for a year or even more. those are all possibilities right now. if i could just add, one other thing that's exciting, some good news about the vaccines in process, they use mrna vaccine. this has been around. we've never seen

the government recently investing nearly $500 billion into mederna, a biotech company that became therst to begin human trials six weeks ago. it includes injecting a dead part of the virus into the body. and prompting the body to make its own medicine. neil browning is one of the 45 people that volunteered to take part in the human trial. >> good to see you. >> thanks for having me. >> you had the first dose in march, and you have since had a second dose, how do you feel? >>. >> that's correct, i feel completely normal. i had no side effects aside from a sore arm the next morning. >> what was your understanding, what have you been informed about being part of a test trial incorporate before you did it? >> so this was not previously tested on animals, so we are the first humans and first animals to receive this, in order to speed things up, they let us know this is not any part of a virus, live or dead, it's using messenger rna technology that reprograms our cells to make something that looks like a covid-19 virus cell, so our bodies can recognize and attack it. what inspired you to do

early trial results from drugmaker mederna showing people developed antibodies that bind to the virus. disable it from attacking human cells. are you encouraged by this? >> i think it is good news. i think we'll be on a roller coaster of data reports over several months. it's important to keep level headed about it. it's a trial of eight people. it's good that the virus the vaccine was safe in those eight people. that was the test measured. it didn't hurt the eight people. they saw some reaction some positive reaction. it's still wasn't really tested. it has to go to a test. it's safe but does it work? the signs are positive but it's far from proven. i think there's good news out of this. and the oxford trial. good news out of other trials. i think again there will be ups and downs. most importantly, even when we know the vaccine works, we have to produce hundreds of millions of doses and get it into peoples arms. that's many, many months away. the drugmakers think the vaccine will be ready in january. but ready and produced and in people's arms are different things. we have to keep u

mederna is looking to make a potential vaccine as early as july, i don't know where that stands and obviously we talk about expanding the manufacturing of a covid-19 vaccine candidate in the uk, working with oxford right now and astrazeneca on some effective treatments that could be ready by the fall so there's a lot perkolating and going around, but the timing is everything, right? is it your sense that something is possible before the end of this year? >> well we certainly could have a sample of these vaccines in time to vaccinate some people in the united states and we know the one profession that is at the highest risk of getting the infection is my profession, it's healthcare professionals and so there are plans to try to get enough supply to vaccinate this sub group and after all you've got to test it in a population not as much for safety at that point in the development but more so to see if it really amounts the antibodies or the immunity that you hope for. the oxford company is the one that you mentioned in the uk is already shown immunogenicity or immune response in animals, so the
