those officers spent the overnight here at medstar washington. one recovering from that shooting left both with lower body wounds. this morning the mayor arrived to visit the wounded as well as fellow officers holding vigil. peter newsham did come by to visit as well. moments after they were shot last night, police say those two officers were brought right here to medstar awake and breathing. at least one was driven here in the backseat of a police cruiser. one officer went right into surgery, likely to remove a bullet. the second may have injuries which include a leg wound. this morning both are stable and in good spirits. as they recover now, their accounts of what happened will become wicritical in the shooti investigation. >> the two best witnesses that we have that we know of now are the two officers, and they're at the hospital. it will take us some time before wen them and detail as to what transpired. police sources confirming to us a short time ago, those officers are resting and continuing their recovery and remain in stable condition.
