meg tirrell is here with a look at this quarter. meg?the stock down after hours that they lowered their guidance by a lot more than was expected. analysts saying we did expect them to lower their guidance but not this much. putting out 8.37 billion, down from 4.32 to 5.42. they readvised their eps by more than a dollar a share for the entire range. the ceo citing pricing pressures and suffering from its resemi-ians to valeant, or resemblance it's trying to distance itself from. but knits the pharmaceutical model and the ceo used to work at valeant, also worked for mike pearson atkinsy. that was something that people liked about and was their resemblance to valeant for so long. now that you're seeing what is happening with valeant, you're seeing it to endo to some extend. people wondering about the viability of this business model. >> do they have a pipeline? could they be acquired a this point? >> it's possible. they are depressed quite a bit. but they do have some debt. so people worry than as well. and they are saying instead of going

genome reveals more and more scientists are working on abnormalities that cause genetic diseases and meg tirrellon this now. meg? >> hi, kelly. there are a couple of ways scientists and companies are working. they're really transforming the way we think about medicine. now, one of the nearest to market of these technologies is called gene therapy. to make up for one that's defective or completely missing that's causing disease. spark therapeutics is working in this space. we talked to two kids who are siblin siblings. caroline and cole parker. they have a rare inherited form of blindness that after time they'll be blind. after the clinic, their vision isn't perfect but caroline told us after this procedure she could see snowflakes for the first time. that's pretty amazing. another is called crisper. it's excited scientists. we talked to one of the scientists of this technology at uc berkeley about its potential. >> it's very exciting to think about the potential for this technology to, i think, eventually cure human genetic disease. we have a technology to repair the mutations, we hope, to give

our own meg tirrell is here with more on that. what did you find out?tuff that darpa is working on. it is created as part of the u.s.'s response to sputnik, and what the director called a t terrible surprise for the united states. and that is what she said. >> we were created in the defense department to prevent that type of technological surprises, and so we decided to create our own. so that is what we have been doing. >> they are a small agency, but they are responsible for huge technology such as the internext and gps, and stealth technology, and of course, they are known for working for the defense purposes. you will see here, this is an exo tlt suit working on the lighten the load for the soldiers out in the field. they have to carry 1110 pound, and this is a computer to read somebody's gait to help them support the walking, and the load they are carrying. this guy carrying it is not a soldier, but one tof the researchers. and this is prosthetic memory that darpa is trying to implement as they would implant this e electrode in the hippo campus, an

meg tirrell joins us with a special guest, alex gorsky, the chairman and ceo of johnson & johnson. . >> great to have you in our company store here in new brenswick. >> surrounded by your consumer products. becky just mentioned the stock is trading around an all-time high, it's really soared since you have taken over as ceo in 2012. a lot of it has been driven by growth in pharma. today you're talking about medical devices and consumer brands. how will you grow those in the same way as the pharma unit? >> we're proud of the performance of the organization over the past few years. a lot of it has been driven by the pharmaceutical group. last year we had an opportunity to talk about the great launches. i think we have had 15 since 2009 and about our strong development pipeline. but frankly what we are here to talk about today is the turn-around of the medical device and our consumer divisions. both cases we put a lot of work in over the last few years. what we'll be talking about today is why we are so excited about the strong platforms we have and the innovation agendas. >> medical d
