megan, so good to have you here. what is the latest? >> look, we are looking at a eajor storm here, jeff. nl's not only intensified in the last 12 hours, but the expansive zone of hurricane-force winds has also nearly doubled in size. it's strengthening. it's now to a category 4. winds sustained to 140 mph at this point. movement is west-northwest at about 13 mph, which puts it just way of 1,200 miles away from the south carolina-north carolina coastline. you can watch as the storm comes into view here, but look at the nice pocket of darker color up to the north. that's what we call the bermuda eigh. it's steering the storm system south. gut just as it starts to ride that ridge, we watch a turn into the u.s. coastline here. we're talking about a cat-4 moving into intensely warm waters, 85-plus-mph waters. that acts almost not just as fuel, but as premium fuel, to intensify and charge that system up. at anticipate a possible landfall, likely as a category 4 storm. t ain, we don't look at a fixed point on that line, but rather the entire

megan is on the road in wilmington.k residents of wilmington should be most concerned about now that florence has actually hit the land? >> right. florence is here, gayle. i don't think anybody is questioning that. if they're anywhere near the carolinas right now. we're driving near the cape fear river and you can see white caps on the river. you can clearly see the winds blowing and gusting. but in addition, we've got some ponding and flooding, minor flooding that we've seen so far in and around wilmington at least where we've been able to move around. what we're looking at is still a category 1 hurricane. i expect that we're going to see at least tropical storm force gusts here in wilmington probably until sunday. so moving forward my biggest concern is the fact that this thing is moving so slowly. this by the way is the absolutely latest from the national hurricane center. the track becomes still important but a little less important now that it's made landfall. what we need to focus on is the fact that it's not movi
