"nats gunshots" the dramatic scene near the white house unfolded with cameras rolling. investigators are trying to figure out why carey sped into a blocked entrance near the white house, with her little girl inside the car. police tried to corner her, but she rammed into a cruiser, and took off down pennsylvania avenue. investigators say one thing is clear... this was no accident. "this does not appear... this is an accident." two officers were injured in yesterday's deadly chase. they are both recovering and are in good condition... both were working yesterday without pay because of the government shutdown. for the first time this time this hurrican

megan gilliland is live in woodlawn with more on the potential financial fallout.orning guys, we're live here at the social security headquarters where the parking lot is empty. of the 11- thousand employees who work here... only about 43- hundred are still on the job. the rest... furloughed. maryland's department of budget... estimates that a two week loss of income for federal workers... could reduce state tax revenues... by more than 50- million dollars. university of baltimore... professor of finance... steven isberg... says that's revenue... the state cannot afford to lose. (isberg) "it's still squelching the growth engine in this economy which is small and medium sized enterprises." (isberg) "you're seeing a lot more evidence that consumer spending is not quite adequate to restore the total health of the u.s. economy right now." as federal employees await word from capitol hill... on their fate... the dollars signs continue add up. right now... the government shutdown... is expected to cost cost the state... five million dollars every day... in lost revenue.
