megan mcgrath is live with more on the investigation and what's next, megan? >> reporter: more questions today about metro's culture of safety. the federal transportation administration releasing a report that says metro workers are not doing simple thing to prevent trains from rolling away after they are parked at the rail yards. the i widespread failure to secure both rail cars and maintenance vehicles in those yards. there are three roll away incidents in two years. one of those incidents, there was some damage but no injuries. now, the problem, workers are not putting on hand brakes when storing trains and other vehicles in those rail yards. i spoke to one rider this morning. he says that metro has a ways to go to improve safety but he does think things are getting better. there's always room for improvement. you can definitely tell. i've been riding metro for two years, you can definitely see an improvement since i first started. >> reporter: another rider, though, says he does not feel safe. in fact, he says that he believes metro should pay him to ride

megan mcgrath has more. >> reporter: we're along the w and od trail. as you can see it's a beautiful place. a great spot to jog and walk and exercise, but it can also be isolated in sections and predators unfortunately can take advantage of that situation. there have been two attempted assaults along this trail in just the last week, and so people are being asked to be on alert. now, take a look at this sketch here. the most recent incident happened yesterday morning, and investigators are looking for this man. they say he confronted an off duty sheriffs deputy as she took her daily jog at around 6:30 yesterday morning. the suspect had a box cutter in his hand. ran the other way and escaped. now this was in leesburg on thursday morning. the stretch between valleyview avenue and south king street. there was another assault last wednesday in sterling just east of sterling boulevard. that happened at 8:30 at night. a woman was walking when two men came out of the woods. they began to pull at her clothing. the suspects fled when a cyclist rode by and they

megan mcgrath has more on why this could be useful during your commute. >> reporter: good morning.s a 45-day pilot program, free wi-fi being offered to metro customers at six stations, including here at union station. this is going to allow people to get on line and take a look at some of metro's features. things like an interactive map where you'll be able to click on an icon and figure out when the next train is coming, how long that train is going to be and so folks are going to be able to manage their commute. then from that landing page, that metro landing page, customers will be able to go to other websites, they are going to be able to throughout their commute. now here are the six stations in the pilot program. take a look at the map. union station, metro center, gallery place, judiciary square, archives and l'enfant plaza. one man i spoke to says it's going to make his commute easier. >> i think one of issues that i have right now is that the systems in the station itself don't seem to always be up-to-date or fully cognizant of when trains are coming. anything that would h

megan mcgrath has more. >> reporter: it's a 40-day pilot program. free wi-fi will be offered at six metro stations, including here at union station. now, customers have said that they want to be able to stay connected even when riding the rails, and this wi-fi is going to help with that. they are going to be able to access realtime information about trains, when they are arriving. they are also going to be able to access metro's trip planner. now people can try it out for the next 45 days and then metro will gather information, feedback from customers, figure out what works, what could be tweaked to work a little bit better. take a look at the six stations included in this pilot program, unio gallery place, judiciary square, archives, and l' enfant plaza. you'll able to stay connected even when down on the platforms. customers will be directed to a landing page with a trip planner, an inactive map. they can take a look at the train schedules and figure out exactly when the next train is going to be coming. the idea here is to get that feedback, figu

megan mcgrath is in leesburg with the warning. >> reporter: well, the trail in virginia is very popular with people who exercise. cyclists, joggers, walkers and the like. but there have been two attempted attacks here in the last week. now, the last victim yesterday, she was able to give a good description of the suspect so police were able to come up with this composite sketch. the victim was an off-duty sheriff's deputy taking her daily jog around 6:30 yesterday morning along the path in leesburg. a man approached her with a box cutter. she recognized the weapon and was able to turn around in time and run away. she was not hurt. i spoke to a cyclist who saw the police response. he said that itas impressive. >> i saw a police car coming down the trail with its lights on, which is really unusual to see a car on the trail is unusual. he stopped, he described the person they're looking for. he asked if i saw anybody, i said no. went up a little farther and another cop car came down the trail. went up a little farther and there's a cop sitting there. came back down, there was -- go out to
