news 4's megan mcgrath just arrived on the scene of a police-involved shooting. megan. >> reporter: aaron, this began to unfoiled around 12:40 this morning. manassas city police getting a report of shots fired within the city limits. you can see this is one of the scenes here. they started to investigate that reported shot fired when they saw a vehicle that may have been involved. now if we can pan in here, zoom in here, you can see that black suv there. there's an officer at the driver's side door. that is the vehicle that they spotted. they tried to pull it over but the driver kept going. now manassas city -- the cruisers pursued the vehicle into prince william county. the driver did eventually stop here at the memorial park on bristow road. the officer at that point, there was some sort of a confrontation. the officer opened fire and wounded an 18-year-old who was behind the wheel. the driver has serious injuries according to police. there was also a juvenile who was inside that suv but the juvenile not injured. the investigation ongoing here. you can see we ha

news 4's megan mcgrath is live in roslyn. megan? >> reporter: well, good mornings. lots of cameras in this building, and that's why they have such a detailed time line. police say that the suspect sexually assaulted a woman and then left the building, made his escape. two minutes later he came back and re-entered the building the second time using the front door. take a look at the surveillance video. he gets inside but why return to the scene of the crime just minutes later? ll that he may have been trying to retrieve something he dropped or left behind. next we see him on the elevator. there's a glass wall on the elevator with a view of the street. he seems to panic as he sees police arriving on the scene. he then exits on a different floor, leaves the building undetected. police are also looking into reports if he ever tried to enter unsuccessfully. he was turned away by a door man. lots of surveillance images, some of them very clear of the suspect's face. police are hopeful that someone will recognize him and give him the break they need. >> megan mcgrath live

news 4's megan mcgrath is live today. you just got new info? >> reporter: yeah, i got new information here and unfortunately it's not good news for folks who use macarthur boulevard. the crews are break right now. we are hearing from a worker on the scene that they are waiting for a part to come from alabama. so this may stretch on for white a while he a -- quite a while here. they were still trying to cut away the piece of pipe in the hole. the actual replacement pipe is on the flatbed behind me here but apparently some sort of critical part that they need is on its way from alabama. so this is going to be certainly an issue throughout the commute and in through the day. now this is a 30 inch water main that broke yesterday afternoon. take a look at the water just gushing from the middle of the street here. it was a real mess. this impacting a rather large area. the closure is from reservoir to foxhall road. the site with the hole, that is between q and elliott, but certainly a major commuter route and this is going to be tied up for a while.

megan mcgrath is live. any progress, megan? >> reporter: not a lot of progress.t's kind of slow and painstaking work. actually, a little lull in the activity right now as the crews are taking a little break here, but still a lot of work to be done. in fact, d.c. water just tweeting out an upda this is going to be with us through rush hour. so if you take macarthur boulevard, you're going to want to think about other routes to get to work this morning. take a look at the map here. this will give you an idea of the trouble spots. the real problem, the hole in the road is between q and elliott on mack arthur. they're stopping traffic from a much wider perimeter between reservoir and foxhall. a large stretch macarthur being affected. it's a major commuter route. this is a large pipe, a 30 inch pipe. take a look at the water gushing from it. it was quite a mess. there were a lot of folks in the area who lost water. we're told that service has been re-established now so people have their water back, but obviously still a big mess here. old pipe. dates back to 1860. bro

news 4's megan mcgrath is in roslyn. how police traced the suspect's movements down to the minute. megan, good morning. >> reporter: well, good morning. there's really good surveillance video in this case, and that allowed police to put together a very detailed time line. take a look here. you can see at times very clearly the suspect's face. you also see hispanic at one point as he tries to return to the scene of the crime and realizes that police are arriving on the scene. now why return just two minutes after leaving? well, sources tell news 4 that the man may have been trying to retrieve something he either dropped or left behind. now the sunday morning, 8:34. the suspect is caught on camera entering through the parking garage at the atrium condominiums. he may have followed a car into that garage. 8:52 he's seen in an elevator, knocks on the door posing as a maintenance worker. the victim in this case, she opened her door. he forced his way in. then at 9:44 the suspect leaves again through that parking garage but he returns just two minutes rater coming through the front door o
