news 4's megan mcgrath is live near the scene following the latest for us. a horrible, horrible situation out there, megan. >> reporter: well, yeah, that's right. we have new breaking information this morning. police have identified the man who wa arrested a charged in connection with this brutal rape that happened her tuesday night along route 355 in the rockville area. justng this information a short time ago. the suspect has identified as 25-year-old dustin rodgers. he's been charged with first-degree rape and first-degree assault. he's being held without bond at this time. the victim was walking from the shady grove metro station to a friend's house. this was just befor midnight on tuesday. she was walking along the sidewalk here on route 5, fredrick road. she got about a mile away from that metro s station. approached west gude drive, police say that rodgers pulled her intoome trees along the side of the road there, that he beat and rapedtier. the v was able to get help from a security guard at a nearby office building. she is now being treated at an ar

megan mcgrath talked to people who knew the young man. she joins use l now. megan? t> reporter: good morning. a very diffic time for students who knew this young man. they're mourning the loss of a fellow classmate ketoday. look at this picture here. this is elijah cole. y he was 1rs old, a senior at thomas stone high school inf. wald last night he was shot in killed in what is usually a very quiet residential neighborhood. take athook a video here. it happened at this home on wil. meadow stre you can see two bullet holes in the car in the driver way. bullets alsoent through a window in the siding of the home. one or two other housesown the streets were also hit by bullets. so a lot of shots fired in that neighborhood lasnight. elijah was pronounced dead on the scene and found a few houses down. >> we're stunned because he was, like i said, a very respectful rson. not just the teachers, the entire staff, they loved him and hspected him becausewas respectful towards all of us. very well mannered never said anything disrespectful to anyone, you know. like i said, his

megan mcgrath is following this. >> that's liright. in d.c.re investigating a drive-by shooting that happened in southeast last night and the look out for the vehicle that's involved is usual. the women that were hurt in the shooting say that the shots were fired from a u-haul truck in the area. this all happened in the 400 block of southern avenue and southeast. a group of five people were walking in the area when suddenly shots range out. now two women that were in the group were it in thleg. they are expected to be okay but that u-haul truck then sped off. now polic say there was another incident involving a u-haul that happened earlier this week. that happened at 2:00 a.m. on monday. a person was robbed at gun point in northeast. three men a armed withened hah guns then fled in a u-haul pick up truck. now it's unclear whether these incidents are related but both involve u-haul trucks.e of couhe investigation continues. no word on any arrests inhis drive-by shooting. back to you. >> thank you so much. >> also developing this morning in thed
