megyn back to you. megyn: steve harrigan thank you. joining me now from the national hurricane center in miami the director of that center, dr. rick nab. thank you for being here. what can you tell us at this hour about the latest. >> the latest is that isaac is centered over the gulf of mexico over open waters and looks even more organized than it has in past areas. thunderstorms near the center and a band wrapping around on the northwest side, even in the florida peninsula we've been getting heavy rains associated with this long band that goes up the eastern part of the peninsula tornado warnings earlier north of us. that isolated tornado potential will continue and spread northward tonight. a big tropical storm that we're forecasting to strengthen into hurricane and big storms can produce a lot of rain, can last a longtime, and produce a lot of storm surge, we're forecasting this to slow down unfortunately as it moves ashore the next couple of days. megyn: what is the likelihood of this thing getting above a cat 1 hurricane? earlier

megyn: betty. that was vice presidential candidate, paul ryan, introducing his mom to a crowd at the nation's largest retirement community. democrats have argued that mr. ryan and his plan would hurt seniors because he wants to revamp medicare entities at heading off a fiscal cliff as the term has been started off. he wants to do something about whether that would hurt seniors on the republican ticket. imagine the surprise when the "washington post" today highlighted this poll. showing 50% of seniors actually have a favorable opinion of paul ryan, compared to 35% who do not. brad blakeman is a former assistant to george w. bush and the former chief of staff of the west virginia staff, former senator, joe manchin. it turns out that the seniors, and a significant margin, like powell and 10 paul ryan, and when you look at the overall numbers, they are starting to like him more and more as they get to know him. brad, doesn't mean that the forecast by a lot of democrats, but this will be devastating for

alert, i'm bret baier. >> i'm megyn kelly. of the things making this republican convention unique is it's happening right now. the delegates are formally about to nominate mitt romney for president on tuesday. one day earlier than normal. >> actually a couple minutes earlier than we thought. the state vote in alphabetical order. each state is awarded a different number of delegates based on the size of the population. the way it's voted in previous elections. states that went republican in 2008 got a bump. so here is the deal. we will keep track of the delegate voting at the bottom of your screen. you can see the magic number needed for nomination on the right side of your screen. that magic number 1144 delegates. the state vote willing be on the far left of the screen when it's happening. when it votes and announces its delegates. now it will all be tallied in the middle of your screen. that running tally will continue to change as you see below us as the states vote. when it hit 1144, you will know it. >> that is the magic n
