mel, i'll start with you.it take so long and is there any clue in that as to what this verdict might be? >> not necessarily, carol. good morning. you know just yesterday i was on with paul callen and we were convinced there would be a hung jury. the fact that there is a verdict is very interesting. there have been many very famous cases that have been out for seven days eight days nine days and so it's anybody's guess at this point whether we're going to see a conviction or an acquittal on the murder charges. of course what we're looking at is murder one which would require the prosecutor to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that there was either planning or that there was such cruelty to the killing that to find him guilty. there's also murder two, which does not require the planning aspect and then we're also looking at a possession of a weapon and ammunition charges as well. so it will be interesting to see what happens, carol. >> absolutely. jean initially when this trial started, we thought that prosecutors

mel, let me start with you. don't know a lot about the six officers who arrested freddie gray and put him in the back of the transport van. five have given statements. the sixth has invoked his right not to give a statement. how significant do you think that is? >> well you know, i think it is very significant. one of the things that's interesting about this is that you know it's very important that everybody not rush to conclusions as we saw happen in the michael brown incident. and, you know, ultimately the grand jury determined the officer was justified. look we have freddie gray's memorial service tomorrow. clearly something horrible went wrong here. and the question is and i think what we're going to see everybody focus on is you're going to see everyone focus on the stop and go ride-about in the van. we're also waiting, poppy, remember for more videotapes to come out so i am certain that the police are probably circling the wagons they're making sure that they're not putting too much out there yet until th

let's bring in mel robbins, cnn legal analyst, joining us as well. as paul laid out there, this was a circumstantial case. in all of our conversations leading up to this point, that had many saying there's a possibility because of that that he could walk. what do you make then of this fact that the jury came out and he's guilty on all counts in spite of the fact that there was all this circumstantial evidence only circumstantial evidence that they were looking at. >> you know, look. i was one of them. i thought he would be acquitted of murder one only because of the nature of the case. it is circumstantial. while they had a mountain of evidence that put them at the scene, the problem with this case was always the motive. why would a guy with this much going for him, with so much to lose, be involved in the planning of a murder of a guy that could be his future brother-in-law? and that was a very, very high mountain to climb for the prosecution. i had a great concern they hadn't done it sufficiently. however, what paul was talking about in terms of th
