we are about to go to a live picture with melanie alnwick. she is following this on sixth street in southeast. we do want know if this is related to another shooting. you tell us what you know at this hour. >> reporter: well, d.c. police are not saying very much at this hour even though it has been nearly sick hours since this incident happened. we are here on sixth street. it is blocked off for i would say three blocks, three and a half blocks here at sixth street from darrington all the way down to galveston. usually, that not the kind of thing we see. we usually don't see it blocked off for that far. usually, it is in a very concentrated area. here is what we do know. we are in the 4200 block. there was appear exchange of gunfire between a d.c. police officer and a male. now, police are not saying in that male was an adult or a juvenile but we do know the male was fatally shot by at least one police officer. we've also learned that one officer was taken from here to the hospital but we don't have a confirmation on the nature of that office

melanie alnwick is live in southeast. melanie good morning. >>> good morning will. yes, the scene here is still blocked off, many many hours after this incident it happened 10:47 p.m. on monday night, and now we are getting close to what is it now, 7:00 a.m. in the morning sorry i have been here since very early. hard to keep track of one hour to the next. 6th street, blocked off darington to galveston street. it appears they are keeping this scene blocked off it was quite a scene last night. we understand there was gunfire exchanged across these three blocks between some people. we do know that one police officer was injured with what they call a graze wound. there is a male suspect, there was a lookout for a male suspect when the alert first came across at 10:47 p.m. last night. the male suspect is now deceased, fatally shot by at least one police officer. that exchange of gunfire but details we are not sure. police think it may be connected to another scene, a shooting they were called to respond to that happened 10:12 a.m., only 30 minutes prior to that. not far

melanie alnwick is live in northwest.e told you have new information now. >> reporter: that's right. dc police tell us he was spotted some time early this morning they didn't say exactly what time, with a woman up on 14th street. he was here, on the 1300 block of columbia road. they say this woman is known in the neighbourhood as quail. she is 4'11", and she wears her hair in a mohawk. distraught family members are arriving here, to the apartment where he was staying, this morning his grandmother said she found out around 9:00 p.m. last night that her grandson was missing her daughter apparently not being able to fill in too many details about where and when he disappeared. tina brown says she has been spending the rest of the time driving around looking for her grandson. >> he was staying with his mother this weekend. i just know i got a call and said my grandson is missing. i just want my grandson to be home, where he at i don't know. please bring him home. he's not going to hurt anybody. please don't hurt him. please d

melanie alnwick is live at the state house with more. good morning melanie. >> good morning tony.pport the planned income tax increases, some suggested they didn't need a special session maryland ought to learn to live with a series of budget cuts for just one year. governor o'malley warned that could put the state's progress at risk. let's look at who will be hit with higher taxes. the tax increases would be begin with singles her honouring more than $100,000 -- earning more than $100,000 couples more than $150,000. exemption, for high inners those will be -- earners those will be phased out beginning with individuals earning $125,000 a year. higher taxes will effect 16% of maryland wage earns. during the regular session, lawmakers couldn't agree. the law requires a balanced budget they were looking at theories of spending cuts or finding a way to increase revenue. governor o'malley said he wants to maintain progress in education safety is giant and believes the burden should fall on wealthier tax payers. >>> the revenue package will call on 16% of us, in the top earning brackets
