melanie woodrow is near the crash site. melanie, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. ntsb's chairman had said the interviews were supposed to take place yesterday. but ntsb investigators decided to wait for their korean counterparts to arrive to conduct the interviews today. three days later, we still have not heard from the pilot at the controls when flight 214 crashed. the focus into the investigation of the crash of asiana flight 214 shifts to the cockpit today. all four pilots will be interviewed to investigate what they were doing in the homes leading up to the crash. >> we're going to get a lot more details about their activities. about their work, about their training. about who was the pilot flying. who was the pilot in command in the cockpit at the time of the accident. >> reporter: preliminary investments show the plane was flying too low and about 40 miles per hour slower than needed for landing. >> it's hard for a professional aviator to understand why they could get so low and so slow before they got to the runway. >> reporter: another investigation is un

melanie woodrow in prescott arizona with details on how he escaped the deadly fire. >> reporter: improved weather conditions allowed a cbs news chopper to fly over the wildfire devastated town of yarnell, arizona this morning. revised estimates now say about 50 homes were destroyed in the town. the lone survivor of an elite fire crew that was killed battling the fire attended a prayer vigil in prescott. he hugged mourners in the crowd. 21-year-old brendon mcdonough was serving as a hilltop lookout radio information to crewmembers when the wind shifted sending flames in their direction. a three-year member did what he was supposed to do when he told crewmembers he needed to move to a different vantage point. >> he left his post based on protocol and moving to a new position. >> reporter: the memorial for the 19 crewmembers continues to grow. officials do not know if another lookout was in place when the firefighters were killed. those officials will ask mcdonough about that and more during the investigation. >> please, leave him alone. respect him right now and his privacy as well as his m

reporter melanie woodrow reports from idyllwild with an update. >> reporter: here in lake hemet the weather is definitely a factor again today. it is not just the heat but the threat for thunderstorms that could bring lightning strikes and wind and with that, officials are warning residents in pine cove they could be the next ordered to evacuate. california fire officials now say somebody not lightning started the wildfire that threatens mountain towns east of los angeles and the city of palm springs. an investigation is under way to determine if it was started intentionally. as the fire inches closer to the town of idyllwild, authorities plan to airlift firefighters to the ridge between the town and the blaze. >> the whole idea is to keep the fire on the ridge. we are painting the ridge with fire retardant. we are going to get troops up there to cut firelines where it's safe to do so. >> reporter: a mandatory evacuation order has been issued for the residents in idyllwild but no one is being forced to leave. authorities say if the fire spreads into town, it may not be able to help those wh

melanie banker is in the camp that we would see the bank of england governor vote against qe.ou expect the rest of the board to go with him? >> no, i didn't. we were in the camp looking for a 7-2 vote. it is certainly a surprise in that sense. but i would be interested in the overall tone of the minutes. you said some of them still thought some stimulus would be necessary. what alternative measures are they looking at? and i would still think we are going to get some form of forward guidance from them in august. >> some of the commentary says they're a group of members open to further qe believe it is not required now. what do you think would change to make the board vote in favor of qe? >> i would have to be a deterioration of data. the income data has been quite strong in the uk. the one thing that has been apparent has been higher bond yields, that's been increasing risk to the outlook going forward if you like. so in terms of more qe, i think it would either have to be a very sharp rise in bond yields accompanied by perhaps some worsening in some of the data, i think. but

"there is absolutely no need to compound any suffering that baby girl may experience through continued litigation" the court said. late today, brown and the cherokee nation filed separate requests in south carolina for new hearings in the case. brown says veronica doesn't recall who the capobiancos are.
