melanie, you and your team at punchbowl have new reporting about where key lawmakers stand this morning>> it looks like mike johnson is locking down some critical votes over these last few hours. he is in a stronger position heading into the vote than even a couple of hours ago. i am told that the house freedom caucus huddled this morning, had a long debate about how they are feeling. i am told that several previous people who were either on the fence or uncommitted now say that they are going to back nigeria-mike johnson and the reason is because they are viewing it as a vote for donald trump's agenda. i caught up with one of those previous hold-outs, eli crane from arizona, he voted against kevin mccarthy in the previous battles and he told me he is probably going to vote for mike johnson here coming up. so that is a huge positive development for mike johnson. it comes after he has been making calls and having meetings, after donald trump is making calls on his behalf, lobbying people like congressman chip roy. that being said, that doesn't mean he has the votes necessarily on the fir
