melanie woodrow is live outside court with the emotional day in court. >> reporter: two lives, two families lives have been forever changed by these events and that's why we saw a packed courtroom here today on one side family and friends for the victims, denise huskins and aaron quinn, and on the other side family and friends for the death, matthew muller. this is the first time that huskins and quinn came face to face with matthew muller in nearly two years. denise huskins bravely shared being kidnapped and raped by muller twice, and she also shared a very personal story about having been molested as a child, a story that she says she shared with muller when he abducted her. she began speaking, she physically turned to muller, she looked at him, and she said to him "the voice has a face, it has a name, now we finally meet." through tears at times stopping to catch her breath, denise huskins bravely described being kidnapped and raped twice by matthew muller, saying the only way i got through it was to picture that it was aaron i was with. >> she was very, very brave and very good. beautif

melanie woodrow picks up the story. >> reporter: this is where that vehicle was ultimately abandoned, right here after a short chase with berkeley police. the vehicle is gone now. richmond police have processed it. we have some video from sky 7 of what it looked like earlier today. this was just after noon when berkeley police say they realized the vehicle had possibly been involved in that richmond officer-involved shooting from this morning. we also have video from richmond to show you. this was just after 1:00 this morning. richmond police responded to a possible burglary on sutter avenue. when they arrived, the suspect, who they say was breaking into a truck, ran away and was last seen on carlson boulevard. a richmond police spokesperson says the suspect then jumped into a mercedes and attempted to ram officers with that vehicle. one of those officers opened fire. both of the police officers are okay. it's not clear whether or not the suspect was hit by those shots. somebody then reported a suspicious vehicle to berkeley police this afternoon. it was parked on addison, between 5th

melanie woodrow is live in berkeley. melanie, city officials just told you there was a reason they showed restraint? >> reporter: well, ama and dan, the mayor and city spokesperson say the city is attempting to strike a balance between allowing people to express their first amendment rights and intervening when necessary, but doing so in a way that won't evoke more violence. take a look at some of the weapons that were confiscated this weekend. some of them really significant. 2 x 4s, baseball bats, even wood with nails stuck in it. the clash between opposing groups was violent. there were smoke bombs, people were pepper sprayed who then had to receive assistance at pepper spray relief stations. some people were bleeding from the head. an initial scene that berkeley police took little action as people shoved one another but there were ten arrests. from sky 7, you could see police chasing and arresting one of those protesters. >> i think our police did the best they could under very difficult circumstances. if they went in

melanie woodrow of our san francisco station kgo has the story. >> the cell phone video begins with bikers doing wheelies, then escalates with one colliding with this white car. suddenly the other bikers speed up and at the cesar chavez exit, a red car presumably with the bikers appears to box the driver of the white car in. the person who took this video >> they approached the vehicle and they started punching in the panels on the vehicle and hitting windows, breaking the windows and another vehicle impeded my view so i couldn't see exactly if the man was pulled from the vehicle or if he got out on his own. four to five men weren't hitting him, kicking him, even when he was down. very clearly they broke his leg. >> the man who took this video says he got out of his car when the bikers left. >> he had a broken leg, as i said. he had a bloodied face. he had road rash. he was in pretty rough shape so we call the 11. >> the former new yorker says it was reminiscent of this incident where he used to live that prompted him to begin recording. > these guys are obviously think they can do whateve

in martinez, melanie woodrow, abc 7 news. >>> san jose's police chief is saying he doesn't believe any policies were violated in the officer-involved shooting of a man running around naked in a residential neighborhood on friday. the suspect remains in critical condition. abc 7 news reporter david louie joins us live from police headquarters in san jose. >> reporter: san jose police started to roll out body cameras last summer, and this incident on friday was captured on three cameras. the video has not been released, however, chief eddie garcia believes there has been no violation of departmental policy. residents had called police because a man was walking around naked in front of children and adults on eva court near valerie drive. 53-year-old san jose resident john bradley bowles led police on a four-mile pursuit to a major shopping center. >> the suspect did not comply with commands and aimed what appeared to be a weapon at the officers. one officer subsequently fired at the suspect. >> reporter: it was discovered later the weapon was a caulking gun. the suspect then revved up the

. >> melanie woodrow is live on the scene. >> reporter: the scene is clear now but it was pretty activernoon. we have some video to show you from sky 7 just after noon when somebody reported a suspicious vehicle to berkeley police. it was berkeley police that then determined that might be the same vehicle that had been involved in that richmond officer-involved shooting this morning. we also have video to show you from richmond. this was just after 1:00 this morning when richmond police responded to a possible burglary on sutter avenue. when they arrived, the suspect who was breaking into a truck, ran away and was last seen on carlson boulevard. a richmond police spokesperson says the suspect then jumped into a mercedes and attempted to ram into officers. one of those officers opened fire. the officers are both okay. it is not clear this afternoon whether or not that suspect was hit by those shots. then again somebody reported a suspicious vehicle to berkeley police. this afternoon berkeley police say that vehicle was parked on addison between fifth and sixth streets and here's what hap
