melanie woodrow, abc seven news. >> all right melanie thank you for that update. investigators are trying to figure out whether a fire that ripped through a san leandro 7-eleven was set on purpose. a spokesperson for the alameda county fire department says a bush next to the convenience store at 136 avenue at east 14th street caught on fire. the flames eventually spread to the store, burning the entire roof and attic. one witness recalls the incidents he saw leading up to the fire. so as i come outside, i saw one guy, i guess he had like tried to start the fire, went back and bent down, and i guess that's when he was starting the fire. and thankfully, no one was hurt in that fire. >> well, five years ago today, the deadliest wildfire in california history swept through part of butte county. that was back in 2018 when the camp fire ravaged the town of paradise. 85 people were killed when nearly the entire town was destroyed and 18,000 homes and businesses were lost. and today, only about a third of the population has returned and only about 20% of the homes have be

melanie woodrow, abc seven news. >> okay melanie thank you very much. we have an update to an i-team story from three weeks ago that we brought you about. the unhoused man who camped across from a richmond district grade school for more than a year after joseph adam moore posted a sign offering free fentanyl for new users, police arrested him. moore now faces charges of public nuisance battery on a parent from the school and a probation violation. moore is also a registered sex offender. today, a superior court judge lowered moore's bail from 35,000 to $10,000 and issued an order that moore stay away from the two blocks that contain the school and a nearby library. moore's attorney told the i-team, dan noyes that moore survives only on social security, so he cannot afford even the lower bail amount and will remain in jail. therefore until his trial within the next month or so. >> after two months of work, today's united nations plaza in san francisco reopened the site near city hall has gone through a makeover and the hope is that this is the start of a
