welcome, supervisor melgar. supervisor melgar, did you want to jump in? >> supervisor melgar: thank you so much, chair haney. yes, i actually have questions specifically about the office of early education. as we all know, the babies and families fund was established after the voters of san francisco passed it in 2018. to help to realize a robust early care and education system for all families. it is a very challenging and many of us who are parents know that the waiting list for childcare are very long in san francisco many people can't even get in, if they can afford it. those who cannot pay are even more at a disadvantage. but top priorities was to raise the wages of early care educators who are mostly women of color. it's clear that the childcare waiting lists and to provide slots for low and moderate income families. eventually we will be able to realize the funds for wraparound services for families, but i am just -- like, we need to build out the system first. i want us to be that city that has universal childcare for all families who need it. and
