let's get to melissa nord with the first alert forecast. >> it really is a triple threat. you wouldn't know it right now because it's so nice outside. in for tomorrow, snow, sleet, freezing rain. all in the cards for tomorrow. ice is actually going to end up being the biggest concern and the travel impacts for the metro area right now, putting it at moderate too high impact because parts of the day with ice being the biggest concern. that means it's going to be difficult, especially on secondary untreated roads for driving conditions. some snow in the cards for tomorrow. there could be spots that end up with about 1.5 inches of snow with the travel conditions going to be worsening as we head to the mid-morning hours tomorrow. so for your plan, i would have a secondary back-up plan you can do at home because road conditions will be worsening. the futurecast, for the evening plans on friday, not a problem. we are falling into the 30 ace at 9:00 -- 30s at 9:00 but still temperatures above freezing. but look past here towards 1:00, 2:00, we've got freezing rain, snow and sleet

we have melissa nord in sheehy storm tracker 9 but first, allyson rae with what you can expect to sees morning. >> yeah, it's going to be a mild day with temperatures around 50 and wet. and i mentioned the temperatures first because if it was cold, we would be dealing with snow just like we were at this time last year. the same type of system with the low pressure coming right up the coast. however, the higher elevations later on today could see ail little bit of snow. first alert live have the original band headed our way, it fell apart. the morning commute is not looking as ominous. but that doesn't mean we're escaping for a very wet day, very heavy rain expected by the middle of the day. right now, showers in hagerstown. and farther south, this is what we have to deal with. this is going to be here about midday. take a look at the futurecast. in the meantime, cloudy sky, temperatures around 50 degrees into the 40s for the suburbs. by midday, between about 10:00 and 1:00, we will see heavier showers. areas that will see the heaviest will be west of 95. notice the orange colors. we a

>>> welcome back to wake up washington i am meteorologist, melissa nord. we are talking about snow. now it is not going to be a lot for many of us but those who are getting snow, this is what it is look like on your commute into work early this morning. we are in storm tracker 9, route 5, in clinton maryland and we've got reduced visibility but you will notice as the snow is hitting the ground, it is melting. so yes, you will have to reduce that speed but where we are seeing snow accumulating that is mainly consisting on the grassy elevated surfaces and trees. so let's talk about what has been happen withing the radar this morning first alert live doppler. most of that better accumulating snow stayed south of dc rather than our northern suburbs those are the spots that could end up with over an inch of snow. i just got a report from chancellorville they have just snowfall total. now for the rest of today, this is what we are expecting. places south of dc, locally there could be spots over an inch of snow as much as an inch and a half maybe up to 2 inches i
