involved in a shooting of two men outside a home in the area of summit drive and mello way in fremont. thom jensen is there with more. >> reporter: to give you an idea where this is. off 880 near the fremont boulevard exit. it happened in that house, that brown house. you can see where they're trying to tow that truck away right now. it happened at about quarter to 3:00 this morning. fremont police officers were here just minutes later according to a man who lives across the street from the victims. the fremont police department tells nbc bay area, two men went outside to confront the burglars in that driveway there and both of them were shot. fortunately, their injuries are not life-threatening. at least two canine teams immediately scoured the neighborhood. but they were not able to sniff out the suspects. we talked with a few neighbors who say violent crimes are very rare here. >> weird. it's crazy. >> generally a real quiet neighborhood? >> very. i've been here for 30 years. you hear about random car break-ins, but never shootings, nothing like that. >> our house has been broken i
