melville mason. he's the man accusing the two people over what was a perceived debt of $10, that's according to police. now, friends and family of 21- year-old william monroe and 22- year-old megan kerrigan, this only makes their loss worse hearing something like this. over 150 people gathered outside of the victims' home on south cary street last night. the family says mason threatened them as early as last friday and they say they even called police about it. police say mason broke into the home on tuesday morning, shooting monroe's mother and a family friend before killing monroe and kerrigan who were in a back bedroom with their 17- month-old child. police say mason would have shot the baby, but the gun wouldn't shoot. they say kerrigan and monroe were good people and their deaths are tragic. >> it felt riek a nightmare. i can't say nothing but nice things about them. they were always friendly, they always took care of everybody. will always gave a helping hand for somebody that needed it. megan was very, very kind to everybody. again, she was ready to help somebody out with anything they needed. i'm going to miss them very much. >>reporter: city polic
