he was years ago in a place called memphis. he asked dr.e to memphis to lead the sanitation workers' strike. he convinced martin king to come to memphis to get on the front lines of the fight for the sanitation workers. james lawson thought he was the one that got martin king killed by getting him to come to memphis. he and james harding who wrote beyond vietnam -- i talked to them so many times across the years. i ran into him the other day in l.a. he retired now. he's part of a grand legacy. >> yes. >> of those who worked alongside dr. king in memphis and beyond and ironic in a matter of months will commemorate the 50th anniversary of king's assassination. past tored for a lot of years and he's an icon to many people in the movement. >> yeah. >> that said, that's why holman gets us excited when you hear that name in this city. cuba, you guys have been doing this for a number of years. tell me about the kacaravan. you don't get involve in politics but how has the death of castro, the opening of our policy with cuba under the obama administ

we know there's a long-standing feud between little rock and memphis gangs. do you think that situation would be applied to this scenario? >> i think that the history and the challenges of both little rock and memphis are well documented. i think when you have a concert venue where you have young people and force these two cities into a small room and some kind of dispute ensues, it was a recipe for disaster. obviously we'll learn more things as this investigation unfolds. but to say this was a result of conflict between memphis and little rock, i don't have that information to give you that definitive answer. >> chief, you mentioned previous shootings -- >> you said several suspects, are you talking five, ten? can you tell fus they're from here or out of town? >> because we don't know what we don't know yet. we're still in the process of actively interviewing both victims and witnesses from the venue. i would have no idea as to how many people actually fired shots in that location. >> chief kenton buckner difficult morning and afternoon. you heard from the m

at the power lounge located on sixth street there was a concert with a memphis entertainer identified as a fitness two time scheduled to be the headliners for the concert. there were also some local artists scheduled to perform. at this concert some sort of dispute ensued in the audience during the event. and there were multiple shots fired. we believe multiple individuals were responsible for the shots fired. again i want to echo what the mayor said. i don't believe this was an act of terror more an active shooter situation. offduty police officers were also at some point working this event. they were there from 11:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. that was the normally scheduled to him to be there. the job was to work the parking lot for the venue which is typicalfare these types of venues and police offduty during that location. during the tenure there shortly before they left the 2:00 a.m. exit time. some members with the headliners group for the entertainment attempted to enter the venue, one of which openly ka carrying a weapon. our officers engaged that individual, attempted to stop that in

kristin lee is a reporter with fox 13 whbq in memphis.south in greenwood mississippi about a mile away from the crash. what do you know? >> we're in front of the emergency management center they set up here in mississippi as they investigate that crash. in the last hour we learned that at least six of those marines and one sailor were part of the united states marine corps special operations command. that's new information that we gathered in the last hour. we're waiting here for updates from military personnel. in the meantime, we've been contacting local law enforcement agencies and of course the local airport here in greenwood to learn more about what happened. i've been in contact with airport personnel about the moments that led up to that crash. what we learned here this afternoon is that the crash seems to be unexpected. airport personnel tell me there was no distress call that they're aware of before this crash happened. there was a great deal of confusion here moments after that crash. there was smoke in the air, people could see
