this morning the investigation continues into a flighten discovery that forced the evacuation of mendocino beach. yesterday, bomb squad was called in to keep fuse a device. it may have been an unexploded depth charge. those were commonly used used during world war ii to attack submarines. the beach is expected to reopen this morning. >>> well, the first phase of a major improvement project in yosemite's lake starts this summer. a new ecologically friendly trail had been built. reportedly it will minimize damage. the conservancy is providing $850,000 for the initial improves -- improvements. in the future, enhancements will include better parking and new picnic areas. >>> swimmers in dublin are joining swimmers from all over the world trying to break a record for the world's largest swimming less oop. now, this is video from last year when the record was set at almost 4,000 swimmers. this morning's joint lesson started at 8:00, pacific time, the organizers say they hope this event encourages more parents to keach their kids how to swim -- to teach their kids how to swim. >> very, very impor

observer ron said rain let up in cazadero but reports of moderate to heavy rain points north up into mendocinour ago heavy rain into lake county and it's just offshore. watch in the last few frames. look at that. moving in right off point ryes. a line of very intense rain as that starts to move you can see it's moving northeast. east bay, most of the peninsula south bay will miss us for another couple hours. but the system is on its way. there's a couple pieces to it. the front and then the cold unstable air behind it and then the low itself. so anywhere from .05 to maybe over an inch of rain. i've seen projections of 1.5 plus north and east of us. so it wouldn't take much. not a big wind producer. but a temperature-wise band of really cool temperatures will settle in today. good 5 to 20 degrees below average this time of year. out ahead of it a south wind very mild upper 50s low 60s mountain view, hayward, redwood city, san jose. 54 seems popular. san francisco, san rafael, napa, santa rosa great look at the low spinning there as it heads into northern california. eventually it's going to end

moving in to parts of the north bay, mendocino county, lake county. south bay mostly clear. they'll be a little warmer. some of these clouds hit and miss. scattered about. not a big deal. looks like they're abdomen done rounding third and heading home. not before that in picked up a quarter inch. petaluma .2. sfo redwood city .15. concord, crockett, livermore all around .12 or a tenth of an inch and lesser amounts. still for this part of the year pretty impressive. 40s and 50s temperatures all within about four or five degrees of each other. doesn't matter coast, bay or inland. low spinning into northeast california it will eject out because the next system is dropping in. the problem with the next system is it's the last one in the series. and the last one in the series does not have something to bump it along. it may sit out here and spin and spin and spin. so the timing is really tough. i'll deal with it tomorrow. the low develops, rain will start probably on the coast before it does inland. don't change any plans for saturday yet but i think sunday, monday we are looking
