i know there's upper 20s in the mendocino county.een a long stretch, 11, 12 days of below freezing. that's just a really, long, long time. there's still some there. 60s on the highs today. at that trend of a huge discrepancy between some inland and the coast is getting thinner. santa cruz will go 70. menlo park in there. mountain view, at 64, 65. cloudy, rain on wednesday. it looks like a break on thursday. another system, i think some more rain on thursday. >>> a fire in yuba county is still smoldering -- der -- smoldering. at beale air force base. here's more. >> reporter: good morning. this building has been burning for 17 hours here at beale air force base. we understand that inside it's completely gutted. this is just a shell right here. this should be burning until about noon today. the fire broke out in this 44,000-square foot building at around 2:30 yesterday afternoon. it happened inside a civil engineering squad building, it is a two-story facility. when the fire started, theres with one person working inside this building.

the mendocino county d.a.'s report showed not only was his murderer known by the family to be mentally ill and a drug user, but also at the semi automatic weapon he used to gun down jerry was given to him by a family member. it is suspected he was able to purchase the multiple round clips legally himself. jerry worked for a local timber company. he was accompanied by a neighbor to verify a report that there was a trespass grove on the property. that neighbor is ian cheney. jerry was armed but even carried a gun that day, not an automatic weapon, but a handgun, a gun he had to use. in firing that handgun he was able to surprise the killer and gained just enough time to escape with the killer chasing and shooting at him. if he did not have that handgun, ian would not be standing with me tonight, and he would left behind a beautiful little girl and a loving wife. i strongly support our right to own and use guns, however, the unchecked acts of on the criminals take away the rights of others to live a safe and prote
