this move comes after the governor declared a drought emergency for sonoma and mendocino counties.s declaration makes it possible for the counties to access different forms of financial drought assistance. it means the governor of the state would be able to step in and stop farmers from pulling water from the russian river. we are hearing from other bay area counties. county leaders in contra costa county saying they're fine with their water levels now and they don't foresee any restrictions being put in place but are urging folks to just use good judgment and try to use a little bit of restraint. we're also hearing that some city leaders are expected to speak in honor of earth day and also to explain some of the measures they're taking to control both the wildfire and the drought. santa clara county supervisor will be speaking at 12:30, at the fire building there in santa clara and san francisco mayor breed will speak about some of the climate change and some of the things the city and county will be doing to protect the environment. all is well out here. it doesn't take much for

you can see an isolated shower across lake county, mendocino county, chance of wet weather for you closera weather system to our north. tuesday, more sunshine with temperatures on the rise. though it was great to have that rain, it really did not do much to impact our drought. we are looking at a severe to extreme drought. this is a big concern for us as we look to wildfire season in the summer. as we look to daytime highs, taking you hour by hour with temperatures again in the 50s and 60s this afternoon. tomorrow morning generally in the 40s to start our day and tomorrow in the afternoon, temperatures on the rise. it's still cool along the coast but we are talking 60s and 70s inland and around the bay tomorrow. it gets warmer still, check out wednesday and thursday. we are talking around the bay and inland into 70s and 80s, still mild friday and into the weekend. but that extended forecast, several days, we are looking at dry quiet weather for us. i wish i could tell you we had more rain in the forecast but at this point temps are warming as we look to the rest of the week. back to you.

along with cierra johnson, we'r breaking news, a 4.0 magnitude earthquake striking in the mendocino national forest. it was early,ut 4:18 this morning, about 45 miles northwest of cloverdale. this map kind of gives you an idea of where it is. pretty remote out there but good shaking nonetheless. let's check in with kari. >> yes, it is a very active region and to see a 4.0, we don't get that many of them, so as we look at where it happened, it was just northwest of ukiah, and it's possible that you may have felt some of that, but looking at the frequency of earthquakes that we have here in california, and we get about 100 a day, if you don't feel most of those, because most of them are below a 4.0, and of course, the most active fault is the san andreas, this is parallel to the an san dre was fault which we'll have to watch closely because some of that lateral movement could possibly trigger a larger earthquake. so we'll be watching that throughout the morning, as well as our forecast. i'll have more on that in a few minutes. mike, how is the commute moving? >>> this is a problem out of san f

farther north still looking at 70s from mendocino and lake counties. easter forecast looks like near normal temperatures starting off in the 50s but around 70 degrees inland, low to mid 60s, we've been talk about the chance of showers early next week but things have changed. estimates for the weekend because we still are going to be watching the storm system organizing over the pacific but we anticipate this whole thing stretching out sweeping towards the west coast and sending a chance of showers into the bay area. instead it looks like it's going to break into a couple of different pieces, northern branches going to the pacific northwest while the southern branches parked out in the pacific. what it means is dry weather for the bay area as we head into the first half of next week. we have removed rain chances for the extended forecast. i would love to have those chances back into the forecast but it doesn't look likely at this point. near-normal temperatures sticking around as we head to mostly next week. we will have that look at how the fog is goin
