i'm from merced, calif., a very small town with a lot of mathematics and drug dealers. at the same time, i've worked at a gay bar in modesto. i used to work about 45 minutes it would take to drive to work and back. the reason why is that it was a safe zone. in merced, there's not a lot of drugs, but i could work on my family's farm were pretty much a place of want. i have a lot of family and connections up there, but the reason why is the bar in modesto started out as a little tiny bar next to the hotel that the city would put the homeless up with extra rooms. it was the number one spot in modesto that was known for drugs and the reasons they want to close this place, to not let them have an alcohol license, it turned to being a gay bar, that's when i stepped in. we had to protect the lgbt community in the valley. there was less drugs because the scene and cleaned up. the gays have turned it into a very clean, welcoming environment. there was no security guard by the time a year-and-a-half came up because lesbian and gay bars are known for safety. we are the people who

this is current image, doppler imagery, you see that spinner there, i know it is merced, that is a rotating cloud. a funnel cloud when it touches down is considered a tornado. we will be following this all night and more unstable weather tonight and tomorrow. a wild weather period. this is not unusual. this time of year in the central valley you get cold air and this activity. so it is striking. like this morning's hail and tonight as the cold air gets closer, the thunderstorms will drift south towards the north bay. at 10:00 we will show you reds and yellows. i don't think we will see rotation. but by tomorrow morning, in the bay area, we could see some severe weather. we will be watching it. we will be watching it for you tomorrow. tomorrow is the earmark of a wild weather day. the forecast tomorrow, you see the evening forecast, rain showers 10:00, 11:00 in the north bay. you see these cells. that is the type of activity it will get you a thunderstorm. they create that environment that will get you lightning, thunder and hail, and even a funnel cloud. friday morning will be wet. out of t
