southbound 14th street at meridian in northwest d.c. i'll keep you posted on that situation northbound you can get through. let me take you outside live and show you the dense fog that howard has been talking about. about a quarter mile visibility on the southbound side of 270 from frederick down past shady grove road to the point where the lanes divide. luckily, the volumes will be lighter than normal with delayed openings and school closings as well. we'll take you over to virginia. northbound on i-95, overall delays heading for the occoquan river, more in lorton. here in springfield, it looks ok heading up to 395. we'll take a live lock at 66 on the inbound side. a little more in fairfax and inside the beltway. back over to our graphics, want to let you know with the delayed openings from the federal government, metro has expanded their a.m. rush hour service. more trains will be available for you. if that's what you use. no mid-day track work will help with less delays on metro. more on area roadways at 6:45. >> thank you, monika. >

august 19th, 1981, i ran away from the meridian home for girls just outside philadelphia to the streets of the fort lauderdale strip. i was 14. june 11th, 2011, 30 years later with 5 years sober, i started walking home. with my walk, walking up the east coast, i would walk about 10 miles in the morning, and then in the afternoons i would visit homeless shelters, treatment centers, battered women shelters. i'd go back into the alleys, under the bridges and tell my story and share hope. i started sandraswalk.org to spread little mustard seeds of hope in places that there were none. and there's a lot of fantastic things going on in the recovery community, and i think the stigma of-of coming into recovery and the fellowships, and you can't do this and you can't do that, kind of wards people off. it scares people off from coming into recovery, because they think they're going to be sentenced to a church basement and a coffee pot.
