at one point he's in mesopotamia, i think near tikrit, and comes across a bunch of turkish soldiers, ottoman empire guys, and being with the british army he doesn't have a pistol, but he has a swagger stick. he says you boys over there, you're going surrender. and they do surrender to him. he gets a rather high british medal, goes over to france. but the main story is the youngest son which is quentin, 20-year-old sophomore at harvard. he enlists in the first week of war, and he's very mechanically inclined. he can put together a motorcycle or a car, and he early on loves airplanes. he wants to be in the service. and he trains in minneola on long island. he commutes from home, you know, to do his training.
