this morning a pg&e security guard on routine patrol on the perimeter of this pg&e substation at metcalf in monterey, south san jose spotted this man in black clothes in a field southwest of the substation. it was off pg&e property when he shone a flashlight he ran away. they could not find the man. the only description they have is he's white and in his 20s. it was suspicious. he did not appear to be a transient. he did run. this happened in the middle of the night. they would like to speak with him to see what he's doing out here, to see if he was connected to the vand limb that took place several weeks ago. in mid april what was described as an act of sabotage, someone broke through the substation security fence and shot at the electrical equipment causing an oil leak that damaged five transformers. they also cut through at&t fibre optic cables off property, knocking off phone, cell and internet service for a short time in morgan hill and gilroy. every since pg&e hired a sheriff deputy at their own cost to have him posted out here in monterey. that's in addition to their own security
