these temperatures looked more like spring than really fall or what meteorologically we say is winterght. why this happening? hgh pressure overhead, the same high pressure system that is bringing the gusty santa ana winds to southern california is actually trapping or -- trapping all the air pollutants down near the surface. underneath the area of high pressure you have sinking air. when you have that happen, all the smoke and the haze is right near the surface. and that's why we're seeing the poor air quality. also, that same high pressure is bringing us the down sloping wind, keeping the dew points and the relative humidities really low and keeping us dry here in the bay area. and warmer than average. we're going to continue with that pattern, at least for the foreseeable future. beautiful view from the sutro tower camera, looking towards san francisco. chilly inland overnight. dry sunny days into next week. daytime temperatures will remain above average. first thing in the morning, high clouds. temperatures in the wind sheltered valleys will be in the low to mid-30s, the coldest sp
