metro safetrack surge is almost complete. ngle tracking along the silver and orange brought the commute for some to a crawl. not just metro riders. today news comes metro was able to complete more work than expected. abc7 transportation reporter brianne carter is in arlington with the development. brianne: take a look. this is the stretch of track we are talking about. you can see the difference. on the right the part they have been working on for 12 days. on the left the part they have been running the trains along. this is surge one, one day away from ending. the work being done we understand for the most part ahead of schedule. they completed more work than expected when it comes to replacing the fascinators on the rail. i believe laters on the track. there is still work to be done when it comes to the third rail which is the section of the track that powers the train. of monday, 2% of the work completed. we saw the crews in and around the rail. the work is set to wrap up tomorrow night. saturday it will shift down the line
