strikes me, don, is i sat down yesterday for a podcast with a guy named alfredo corchado who's the mexico city bureau chief for the "dallas morning news." and he was going to return to his post after being a fellow at my institute of politics and he acknowledged that he was fearful about returning there because so many journalists have been killed in mexico but he felt it was his responsibility as a journalist to go back there and tell the story of what's happening there with the drug cartels and corruption in the government and so on. it made me think all over again just how lucky we are to have a free press in this country and one hopes that americans value that. that understand that that is fundamental to our democracy and the fact that we have reporters -- you know, he was irritated, this congressional candidate was irritated by a reporter's question. well, you know what, reporters always ask irritating questions. when i was in government, i was irritated by those questions and when i was a reporter, i asked irritating questions. that's the way it goes because sometimes you ask questions p
