the striking decision here by the miami-dade county mayor over the weekend to take down that building before those gusts of winds were expected to hit the shore here. we're talking about a building that's 100 yards away from the miami shoreline and now it comes down to this recovery effort here. you heard three more individuals pronounced deceased. that puts the total up to 27. but there are 118 individuals that are still unaccounted for and we've been here over the course of these 12 days, talking to family and talking to friends. there are folks that want to recover their loved ones, to be able to have the burials, to be able to have those closures and they are looking to these rescue crews. there is a lot of concern coming in about the potential damage that this demolition could cause to that previous rubble site here, but the good news here this morning is that those rescue crews are back there going through, and the hope is in the days ahead more bodies can be recovered and potentially even rescues. >> vaughn, the mayor there was talking about just how difficult of a decision it

is actually away from the miami-dade region and surfside included so that is good news. that is the official trek from the nagtional lur hurricane center. of course, things can change. there is a very fluid and dynamic situation. one little jaunt to the left by 20 miles or jog to the right by 20 miles can alter this significantly. here is a look at the latest-tropical warnings. we have hurricane warnings across southern portions of haiti into jamaica. with watches for portions of cuba. this is what is called a spaghetti plot. just puts all the various computer models we look at. kind of honing in on central cuba, again, come monday -- excuse me, sunday into monday. why this is important? well, let's talk about the terrain here. there is a lot of mountainous terrain across hispaniola and into cuba. this is going to, potentially, destroy or weaken the capability of this storm. this mountainous terrain disrupts circulation patterns within hurricanes and typhoons across the world. it lodss its moisture source, its heat content source so the storm starts to weaken. that would

the miami-dade mayor says teams have now searched every section of the debris field.your view, how much longer is the search going to continue or should it continue? >> well, i believe that we're going to continue until we're able to identify either survivors, through what we hope will be a miracle, or if we are able to uncover, obviously, every single individual that's unaccounted for. that information, as you mentioned a to the out set is fluid. we understand there are still people where we're trying to get information as it relates to missing persons or police detectives are working around the clock in order to be able to assure or identify all of that information. but we obviously really owe it to the families to be able to uncover, if their loved one is, indeed, in that pile. we want to be able to make sure that we identify each and every individual. it's been a tragic circumstance all around. and for us, it's an important priority to make sure that we get those families answers. >> there is a federal investigation underway, looking into how the building collapse
