michael brodzinski is on second base. the 16-year-old happens to be a volunteer with darby fire company number one. he had no idea his training would come into play on the baseball diamond in folcroft monday night when the umpire dropped to the ground. brodzinski and others at the game rushed in to find the ump without a pulse. >> i said we should start cpr and i said -- they said we don't know cpr. i said i know cpr so i hopped in, took the padding off his chest and started compressions and breaths. >> the fact he acted so fast i can't say it enough it's unbelievable. he's young and immediately remembered what to do and jumped into action. >> it worked out. >> police and paramedics responded but brodzinski continued with compressions. when the umpire left for the hospital, he was breathing on his own and had a pulse. >> adrenaline kicked in. i did what i was taught to do. >> reporter: he may be the rookie at the fire house with only two years' experience under his belt but this small squad of brothers couldn't be prouder
