detective michael davis jr. and she joins us now. welcome, pam.el: you are like a mother to him even though you were his aunt. tell us a little bit about him. >> michael was just a wonderful, wonderful person. he was a wonderful child. he was the most giving person. if you needed help, you called michael and it didn't matter what he was doing. he would be there. and it didn't matter if it was inmate or if it was his best friend, he was there to help people. he was just great. rachel: tell us a little bit about what happened that awful day. >> well, that day he was working detectives, and there was a call for help when deputy oliver was shot in sacramento and the suspect then, after shooting deputy oliver, he shot at his partner. then he shot a citizen in the head, carjacked him, took his car. and fled northbound interstate 80 or west -- eastbound, i'm sorry, interstate 80 toward playser county. they were put on alert and michael responded to help try and appear preel head the suspect. up in the auburn area. he was cornered and that's where he shot
