michael jacobson's group, center for science in the public interest. and consumers union. all petitioned the federal trade commission to act on behalf of children aadvertising. to do something about children's advertising. advertising. to do something about children's advertising.advertising. to do something about children's advertising. the commissioner of the fda also weighed in on this and encouraged the ftc to do something about it. michael perchuck was head of the ftc at the time. you should read his book about the revolt against regulation that he public later on. but here's what happened. the federal trade commission put out a notice, i don't have the exact date here, but right around 1977, maybe '76, maybe michael knows. around 1976, '77. >> '78. >> okay. a notice of proposed regulations on regulating advertising to children. and it would ban all tv ads for any product directed to or seen by ann an audience with significant pro portions of children. banning ads for food causing serious dental health and to be balanced by nutritional or health disclosures. i remembe
