host: on michael kirk to respond to that last part that you are saying. ichael, is institutional knowledge. e.michael: yes, the best book tt everybody that hung biden, is that the senate will hold his experience that's not an actual person. and mitt romney used to be in the united states senate. and that is to still and involved with the institutions around the country. he was able to walk with that kind of a walk. without being man's a pansy because going to be necessary to be bold these moments. certainly when it comes to us what to do with police in america and the killing of innocent black people. and of the people of color. we've got to make it work. he's gonna let people know where he is coming from. assume that happened with biden under this last campaign in a way that it didn't see a lot of it before. maybe there is somebody is listening to other voices because he is an experienced and been around for a long time. things have been changing in the country. the new you look now about all kinds of things sorted be necessary. with areas are not cumming

host: michael kirk is joining us, the documentary filmmaker of this pbs frontline film, president biden, airing tonight at 10 p.m. eastern time on your local station. mr. kirk, why make this documentary? >> joining us michael kirk filmmaker of the pbs frontline film a president biden airing tonight at 10:00 o'clock p.m. eastern on your local pbs station. why make this documentary? what was the goal? >> every four years we make a choice of the presidential candidates it's two hours right before the election in october. and essentially the idea is to get inside the life we don't interview the candidates but their friends and family and people who have known them all their life as close as we can get and we try to answer the t question the boy the father and the man if you learn to do everything you can about biden and this year trump and biden and weaver together it is a very interesting picture we've taken the best parts of the biden story and it helps people understand on the eve of the election who he is in the aspects of his life that may contribute to how he would be as president. >>

time doing it and i feel terrific about it it was kirk douglas is properly right actually good a michael kirk did it on broadway and right he the sixty's and i did off broadway in 1970. and michael got it made in 1974. that was something that was a hell of a movie you know just a terrific and they even watch it today i have a lot more hair i was thinner and the hated anyone more than the nurse i had the big nurse was like a real beotch bobby no son on facebook you directed and starred in the classic dark comedy film the war of the roses you have any special memories or reflections from your work on that movie well it's how i found that movie ok michael leeson who wrote it. a good friend won out of the book born alledge the book. michael and i worked on taxi he was a writer on taxi and a very good writer and we were walking were working in his office develop he was developing some other idea prison movie that he wanted to do about prison reform and and we were beating ourselves you know pitching the ideas and sitting in the every day we going to work and i would bring rice cakes and dates and.
