let me introduce you to our three grand prize winning students, anna gilligan, katie demos, and michael lozovoy. we welcome all of you. anna, tell me about your school. anna: we go to the school for creative and performing arts. i am in art major. katie is a band major. and michael is also an art major with me. >> how many attend the school? anna: about 300. host: and how do you get to go to the school? katie: in fourth grade you can audition through a process in in our area. if your are, you will submit a portfolio. in band, you will audition. they review the additions and they will select a few students to go to school. host: what is it like going to school there? michael: it is very adjusting. it is a smaller school than the normal public schools in lexington. if you come in and fourth grade and leave in eighth grade, you spent five years there with normally the same people because when you go to that school, normally people stay there. when you audition, there is a lot of competition because a lot of people want to get into the school. it is a very interesting experience. all of the teacher

among -- and michael lozovoy. what was interesting to us when we rejecting judging this is that you didn't just explore the point of use it you can to a conclusion and presented that to your viewers. i get the sense your point of view shifted over the course of doing this project. how did that happen? what was going on? katie: we started out thinking let's raise the minimum wage. it is a simple thing to do. you want them to make more one money. it seems like the obvious choice. then we looked at the con side. there was so much more evidence on the con side for why to raise the minimum wage. we look at the long-term effect. raising the minimum wage didn't seem to help the u.s. in the short-term effect, it would, but long-term is more important. in the end, our conclusion was more the con side. host: did you get into a debate on this or was it apparent to all of you? michael i approached it from a neutral standpoint. -- michael: i approached it from a neutral standpoint. there is merit from both sides. i came at it
