he is able to join us now ken martin, the democratic chairman of the farm labor party in minnesota. you have heard the argument by michael brodcorb there, and saying that it is the democrats who are holding things up in your state. >> thank you, tamron, for having me on, and i wish i could say happy 4th of july weekend to all of the people here, but we won't have one here, because most of the parks are closed and most of the vital services are without the citizens. and the only person who has been willing to compromise is governor dayton who has tried to keep the government open. at the end of the day, he has tried to find compromises and solutions, and the republicans have not moved an inch, and the governor has moved a mile. what the republicans are trying to do is to protect the richest of the people in minnesota, and the top 77 millionaires in the country live in this state. governor dayton put cutting and making sensible reforms in government while at the same time reducing revenue in the state. we have a structural budget thanks to tim pawlenty and the rest of the republicans that we need to clean up, and as we try

concert for michael jackson to be held in october in wales and they did it via press conferences, and they don't do anything quiet that family. and at the press conference was catherine, and martinnet, and two of the brothers are saying they can't support this concert because the details of which i might add are vague. they can support a press conference until the cows come home, but the details are vague and not clear and talk of a jackson 5 reunion of course without michael, but a talk of a reunion is not going happen based on this statement from jermaine and randy. they say there is a time and place for an amazing and deserving tribute to michael, but the most important tribute to our brother at this time is to seek justice in his name, because the concert is planned to take place at the same time as the criminal trial against dr. murray, and that is what is happening in the world of jacksons. i will be shocked with their support or not, whether this concert goes off. this is not the first time we have heard of a tribute concert and we have been down the road and at the end of the day, troubles with tickets and profits and logistics and impossible to plan something like this.

martin, and then with can move on to tom cooley. >> thank you. this microphone is on? i'm going to make comments on dodd-fang, not comments on michaelwho i think did a terrific job at treasury and working on some of these very difficult issues, so i got a few concerns about dodd-frank, but i do think we should all be grateful for the job that michael did. when dodd-frank passed, i was pleased that an important step forward had been made in making the u.s. financial sector safer. in particular, while placing the fed in charge of monitoring was not necessarily my first choice, i thought it was a better thing to have the fed --ed -- ed fed mop toring the -- monitoring the constitutions over the previous system that we had in which aig, bear stearns, and others were regulated and i think that is a step forward. i ended up supporting the consumer protection agency. in my view, they should always be resistent to the creations and the may not understand how they work. they are design to protect consumers of low income consumers to borrowing more credit cards. in the end, however, i was persuaded that some financial institutions had followe

and i'd like a little bit of analysis from michael and others about what -- what do we do to avoid that again without going to extremes? i mean, martin said one of the dangers of the consumer protection agency is that it might limit access to credit. well, for heaven's sakes we need to limit access to credit. that's the whole point. we don't need to overdo it and it isn't just a question of poor people as often the conversation is, well, not all poor people should own houses. well, of course. but it wasn't poor people who were doing most of the borrowing. it was everybody. so what are we going to do about that and how does dodd-frank help? >> so i think, alice, that the dodd-frank act is quite focused on setting up a regulatory structure that reduces leverage in the system. >> and i guess i encompass in dodd-frank that is being accomplished through the basel process. on dodd-frank, looking across the financial system not just at banks on looking at improving the resiliency of the system through the use of central clearing parties in derivatives contracts. the imposition of margin and collateral requirements for rebill and derivatives
