. >>> let's take this on with congressman michael mccaul. chair of the homeland security committee. mr. chairman, how serious a threat did the ohio man pose? was there an active plot? >> yes, he said something big was going to happen, he was plotting to attack a military installation, possibly in texas, at ft. hood purple heart awards ceremony. what's most significant about this case, martha, first foreign fighter case of an american citizen traveling to syria, training with al qaeda, and then returning to the united states under instructions by al qaeda operatives to conduct a terrorist attack on american soil that is what is hugely significant about this case. we see these operatives going into western europe and australia. this is the first one in united states. fortunately it was stopped before it happened. >> it seems that many of those who have been arrested are on social media, they're proclaiming their support for isis, so, it almost seems like we're getting the low-hanging fruit. >> right, and a majority of cases, 100 homegrown plots since 9/11. a majority of the cases have
