attorney michael moore, who joins us from the state of georgia. how significant a move is this? >> i'm happy to be with you this afternoon. it's significant move. i will tell you, that's the problem with what's happening in this case. and that is, it's not necessarily the deathblow to whether or not a case can move forward but it's becoming a distraction and a circus that's what we're going to see at the hearing that gets into this question. so it wouldn't surprise me at all to see the judge take control of this and say we're not going to turn this into an episode of "knot's landing" i want you to stand up in court and tell me is there truth in the allegation and turn to mr. wade, without getting into the details of your personal divorce proceedings are the allegations in the motion true? at that point, then, we don't get lost in the idea of just the relationship but then they can begin to talk about things like was he qualified to come on. was there a reason his oath was not properly filed. was there a delay for some reason? that's what i think we'll see at the hearing. >> "kno

attorney for the middle district of georgia, michael moore. it's super complicated. but i just wonder, michael -- >> it is complicated. >> i wonder the big picture here, is the entire georgia rico case against donald trump now in peril? >> well, i'm glad to be with you. it's not in peril. this is not something that i think on its own will be detrimental or completely destructive of the case. what has happened is you have a real optics problem for the district attorney herself, which is never good for a prosecutor as she may be put in credible questions as play, and frankly, some issues may come up later if there are questions about the public funds she used to pay mr. wade, whether they were legitimately earned, that type of thing. i think it's more likely that the judge will make short work of this at a hearing. he'll ask the filing attorney, the defense attorney, to put up what evidence they have of this, which i think will include some information from a sealed record in the divorce proceeding of mr. wade and his estranged wife. and will probably ask the district a

joining me tonight michael moore, a former u.s. attorney in georgia and cnn legal analyst. i'm wondering what you make of these allegations. we saw them coming out in court filings and saw them fani willis serving them in filings. can you expand on what's happened for a moment. >> i'm glad to be with you for a moment. i don't know the facts of the motion that have been filed by the defendant in the trump case are true or not. and i don't know any of us know. but they -- i can't imagine that a lawyer in that type of case would file a motion without having some information sort of in their back pocket, and whether that's coming from part of the sealed record in the divorce case or some other source this lawyer may have. so we'll wait and see what happens on that. the problem i see is really an optics problem. and that is that it begins to look like there are other things afoot other than just the prosecution of the trump case. and i, frankly, you know, the personal relationship allegations that's their business. i don't care a lot about that. if it's the amount of money being
