voters, by seizing on the wall street movement, let's bring in al jazeera's political analyst michael shure. 28,000 heard it in portland, bernie sanders railing against the billionaire class, is that what is attracting all this attention or is something else going on? >> well it's a little bit of geography. i believe you touched on a couple of things that are important. there is a touch of the occupy, the us vs. them. that always touches a chord. bernie sanders, with the exception of a notable appearance in arizona a few weeks ago has been going to white liberal strongholds, that's where his power base is coming. it's no surprise, when you look at the polling in iowa and new hampshire, starting out in two of the whitest states in the nation and when you go after white liberals in those states and you go to the other places where a kind of white liberal mentality among democrats exists you're going to draw well. also he draws well because of the message he's sending. it's a social message and a message of inequality. that draws true especially among the young democrats in that state. >> ther

as michael shure reports that does not mean we should count them out of the race. >> with all the fanfare of the ncaa tournament bracket draw, fox news announced the top 10 in their debate for thursday night in cleveland. it combined five different polls. the polls they used were cbs, of course a fox poll, they used three others. all had a varying margin of error between three and five for the cbs poll. it seemed as if the one candidate who didn't make it, who had a shot of making it and was in the debate was rick perry. he took it on the chin. that's because john kasich joined the fray recently and pushed periout of it. perry was somebody who made a big mistake at the debate last year in 2012. this was supposed to have been a sort of redemption for rick perry. it's not to be. he's going to be on the second stage. the second stage is one people should be watching as well, because from jim gilmore to george pataki, licensed graham and carly fiorina and rick perry, those candidates are going to be trying to get a little attention on a night where it's going to be difficult. you may see a li

our political correspondent, michael shure has more. >> we thought we were going to hear jeb distancing himself from his brother and father, sort of his own man as he's tried to set himself up. looking at his speech, you'll see similarities, talking about bringing more troops into iraq, looking at syria and coalition building. he did ring sort of a common note with his father, you know, his father very famously brought that coalition together to fight in desert storm and get the iraqi's out of kuwait. he talked about bringing moderates together on the subject of syria. >> under my strategy, the aim would be to draw the moderates together and back them up at one force. we should back that force up all the way through, not just in taking the fight to the enemy, but in helping them form a stable, moderate government once isis is defeated and assad is gone. it is a tough complicated diplomatic and military proposition, even more so than the current situation in iraq. >> this is the exact sort of george h.w. bush tactic, but he also had some gorge w. bush, very direct, talked about going in
