we start with the republican race, al jazeera's chief political correspondent michael shure joins us om milwaukee, and michael what are you seeing tonight? >> donald trump is going to coout tonight in a state that he has wanted really badly, david. he decamped to wisconsin. usually what he does is fly home after campaign events. he actually spent the night here in milwaukee last night. he is trying to make this a mirror image of how he handled iowa where ted cruz won. encouraged by a poll today showing him 10 points up, but that is really the outlier. all of the polling has shown that ted cruz is ahead in this state. and ted cruz has made a particular push in this state, because he knows he has to win 96% of the unsaddled delegates to get to where he wants to be. there are people like john kasich who need to win 115% of the delegates outstanding. ted cruz today talking confidently and actually -- when he was doing a different kind of campaigning. going in speaking to voters face-to-face. here is ted cruz today, david. >> i hope and believe tomorrow night's going to be a very, very goo

michael shure is back to explain. michael? >> reporter: yes, john. that's exactly right.s an all-too familiar theme, a factory or business closing down, jobs being lost, and it's no different here in wisconsin, and it's fell particularly hard as they go to the polls today, and what we are seeing here in madison is a very familiar brand, an iconic brand as you said before, that is going to be closing down four days before american voters go to the polls, wisconsin will be saying good-bye to a venerable employer. ♪ my baloney has a first name, it's o-s-c-a-r ♪ >> for generations of families in madison wisconsin, oscar meyer meant jobs. all of that is meant to change when after 97 years, kraft heinz, the parent company closes this plant. >> when i got in there, you thought if you get in, you have a lifetime job. >> reporter: he worked in the ham bone division of the plant. but for the past 35 years he has owned wiggies, a bar that caters to what he calls oscar guys. but in the manufacturing and processing economy nothing is forever. this man teaches business at marquette uni

. >> michael shure reporting from milwaukee. >>> after his loss donald trump lashed out at ted cruz,n a statement he said ted cruz is worse than a puppet, he is a trojan horse, attempting to steal the nomination from mr. trump. >>> and trump is offering more details about his proposed border wall with mexico. in a two-page memo to the "washington post," trump outlined how he plans to force mexico to pay for the 1,000-mile fence. part of the plan is threatening to cut off the flow of payments that immigrants send home. president obama called the proposal half baked. >>> this morning a huge pharmaceutical merger is off. pfizer is scrapping its $160 billion deal. this after the treasury department rolled out new rules to crack down on tax inversions, corporate mergers designed to get around paying u.s. taxes. >> that's why i have been pushing for years to eliminate some of the injustices in our tax system. so i am very cleared that the treasury department has taken new action to prevent more corporations from taking advantage of one of the most insidious taxing loopholes out there. >>>

but as michael shure points out, if cruz can win wisconsin -- donald trump, 736, and he needs 1,237 to win. there's no way that ted cruz can close that gap. but cruz, with caseic's help, and perhaps rubio at the convention, what they can do is perhaps keep donald trump, with a couple of victories to come, they can keep donald trump from getting to the 1237 he needs to lock in the convention, and the delegates who need it going into the convention, and that's where you hear them talking about seconder and third ballots, where they admit be able to deny trump the nomination. the catch here, richelle, there was an exit poll today where 60% of delegates in wisconsin said that they want whoever has the most votes, even if they're short, they believe that that person should get the nomination at the convention. 42% believe no, we plenty the delegates on multiple ballots decide. so you have them thinking that we need this brokers convention. ted cruz tonight. >> every single election, and we're going to talk more about that. >> always unpredictable. president obama is being pressured by the t

michael shure is in milwaukee this evening. >> reporter: good evening, john. this is about a third full here right now. as they await donald trump to arrive here. donald trump and ted cruz making their way through wisconsin. both are confident. ted cruz has been up in the polls recently. he had this to say about his chances here tomorrow in wisconsin. >> i hope and believe tomorrow night is going to be a very, very good night here in wisconsin, and that in turn is going to have impact on races all across the country. the momentum we have had over and over and over again, we are winning delegates when the people vote. and i believe we'll continue doing that. >> reporter: donald trump is also putting a good face on what are bad poll numbers. here is donald trump today in wisconsin. >> i think a lot of big things are going to happen tomorrow. i think a lot of -- i'm seeing people that are professionals. and, you know, the polls are pretty even. right now the polls are pretty even, but -- but i have a feeling we're going to have a very big day tomorrow folks.
